I dont get it. There's barely a difference in reputation, if any, between Nottingham and many of your choices such as Bristol, Durham etc. There all on the same sort of "top ten", Oxbridge reject level. If you looked at Nottingham and hated the city, campus, course etc then maybe you have a point, but to reject it because it is "beneath you" shows a lack of knowledge about UK unis. You must be putting too much emphasis on Nottingham's dramatic drop in league tables recently, but even still, most people would put Nottingham a good 8-10 place higher than it is right now, and employers certainly would not distinguish between a Bristol and Notts graduate.
Why exactly do you think Nottingham is so bad? And why would you apply somewhere you had no intention of going too?
