^^Yes I thought this too when I did it first time round, and thought the content was nice and interesting and straightforeward.

But I did worse than CC (A in CC, B in mamm phys.). They find ways to make it a bit harder trust me lol. Also a portion of it is synoptic.

cheers! So you've done it all already?

if ya don't mind me asking, what ways of making it hard do ya mean?
glad someone else thought similarly though, i was a bit unnerved by the lack of content to learn, seeing as central concepts is massive and they are worth the same UMS.

Yup.
Mmm well Id say about 20% is synoptic, and you don't always know where theyre asking for the synoptic stuff, so you could answer a question well, but some marks will only be given if you refer to something from other modules.
And...I think the mark schemes are more specific, and there are less available marks for questions.
I knew the MammPhys content back to front (although I didnt revise any synoptic and only skimmed the past papers) and was a bit gutted with the B (I need an A for uni).
So I asked for it back to see where Id gone wrong, and in loads of places, I wasn't given the mark because it needed more detail, to expand on a point. So I think the marking is just a bit harsher.

But I think my downfall was the past papers, I just had no time to do them. Do them and you'll probably get the hang of depth of answers/synoptic-ness.

Anyway its ages away :awesome: But I def prefer the content, so much better than the CC ecology/evolution/quadrat sampling crap :yep:

Central concepts was stupidly big :emo:. I should really start getting some good revision in for this paper soon.. it's like everything in biology - not that hard to understand, but a lottttt of content. Which is why my marks are pretty lame, as my memory is appalling. The bits I'm finding tough are the contraction of muscles and rods/cones, it all seems to be going straight over my head at the minute. Bleurgh.

I use it at home quite a lot and it seems okay, I don't get virus warnings at least.. but since I used it once at college I get 3 error boxes pop up every time I log in :awesome: Not quite sure what's going on with that.

I was going to say that I can get those papers for you from my college intranet.. only to just notice they've taken ALL the A2 past papers down to change the page for the new spec.. when the old spec A2 exams haven't even started yet. Yeah, nice one.

Lol thanx anyway. Seems ok today actually, Im still bombarded with pop ups but my comp's letting me see the papers so its alright.

Well your college ppl sound a bit dim, but they're less useless then ours, at least they bothered putting them up in the first place!

How's revision going?

Revision is.. passable, I'm trying to get a bit done for a chemistry resit today and might try a biology unifying concepts paper, seeings as i've only done one and that didn't go so well! How's yours?

Lol not really started yet, but it should be just a case of lots and lots of past papers. I like the content of this module more than the others, its just the bloody exam technique. grr.

And chemistry  Good luck with that!

And chemistry  Good luck with that! I have bad memories of that subject, definitely worst one I took. Slacked completely at AS and got a D, but managed to pull it up to a B at A2, so its doable!

Im gap year-ing btw lol so no UC wooo that paper was my downfall
do top universities still consider applicants if they've taken three years to complete their a-level?

Depends on the subject I think. This year I got into a few. Lol I dont know if you consider them 'top' though.
This is for natural/biological science btw.

First time round, in yr 13, (for a different course) I got one offer. And that was with 3 predicted A's.

So I'd say, it doesnt make a difference if you resit in a gap year.

Depends on the subject I think. This year I got into Kings, Notts, Bath, Cardiff and Aston. Lol I dont know if you consider them 'top' though.
This is for natural/biological science btw.

First time round, in yr 13, (for a different course) I got one offer, from Birmingham, which is probably considered less 'top'. And that was with 3 predicted A's.

So I'd say apart from competitive courses like medicine/dentistry/vet and apart from oxbridge, it doesnt make a difference if you resit in a gap year.
wow, that's rly good congrats. I also want to do natural science, what sort of grades do you have to get if you don't mind me asking and does it matter that I don't do physics?

Havnt you already applied and got your offers (which tell you if they require physics)?
My offers ranged between AAB and BBB. And it depends on the degree you choose, whether it contains a lot of physics so if you dont have it, you should choose the biology/chemistry/environmental type of course.

no, I'm taking a gap year--I didn't apply this year because I was unsure of what I wanted to do; that's why I'm going to apply for a natural science degree next year as i know I want to do a sciency degree but not one that limits me entirely.

Oh right cool
Just look into it there are SO many science courses that combine different areas of science, for example I prefer the environmental/biological/animal/planty side so thats the type of course I picked. Obviously if you wanted anything including physics, you need physics and usually a maths a level.
Look on UCAS course search it shows you every possible science degree, which unis do it, and what grades and subjects they require.
