Sorry to bump this back up but I never got it sorted last time and it seems to have got worse. I bought the car second hand from another garage, should I just take it to the VW dealership or where I bought it from?
What how did it get worse? Did they attempt to fix it wherever you took it?

Well I have taken into my local VW garage to look at and they say it won't fall under warranty as VW paint does not do this full stop and it must have been repainted. Any ideas anyone?

Dealerships are notorious for fobbing people off with stupid answers like that. The number of problems we had with the Ford dealership in Hereford when we bought a car from them was absurd (things kept going wrong on it eg power steering failing, catalytic converter going wrong etc etc, under warrantee, but they didn't seem to realise that my dad knows more about cars than most of them and kept trying to fob us off). Go and make a nuisance of yourself. I generally find that if I make enough of a nuisance of myself, things DO get sorted (probably in order to make me go away and stop putting off their other customers).
