    Well I have been ill for about the past 6 weeks since I started uni and my appetite has completely gone. Instead of eating 3 balanced meals a day I am down to a piece of toast piece of fruit and a proper meal. But I make the proper meal and then can only eat about a quarter of it. But I havent lost any weight. How unfair is that!

    I think 8 stone is ok for 5ft 2 but it depends on your build and what you eat. My friend is about 5ft 2 and she is under 7 stone but she eats like a horse she just doesnt put on weight she has been to the doctors and they just said that she has a quick metabolism. But if you do feel like you have an eating problem I'd check it out with your doctor just to be on the safe side.

    In case you didn't know, a BMI of 20 - 25 is normal. 30+ is obese, less than 15 is drastically underweight.

    I think that if you definitely know that you don't have a problem (i.e. you are not in denial) then you'll be fine considering you understand that your past actions weren't worth it. You should be able to know if you have an eating problem if the problem isn't really in the food but with yourself - of all the eating disordered people I have seen, they are actually physically (and emotionally) disgusted by themselves and disordered eating is just one of the consequences.

    I had almost the same thing. I could get by on say a piece of toast and a cup of tea for a whole day. It wasnt becuase I was trying not to eat it was just becuase I wasnt hungry (and i only eat when im hungry). I started to loose a LOT of energy because Id go after school to basketball training for 2 1/2 hours and end up dead and having to have the next day off school, that was before I broke my back at nationals and my Sister and mum said id have to start eating more even if I wasnt hungry. So I did, and im not as tired and i did go back to running around at training without having to have the next day off!

    i never have lunch at school anymore cus ive always got things to do at that time :eek: this is probably pretty bad for me but you get used to it

    I never used to have breakfast at school hardly apart from when I had exams, mainly because of the extra 30 mins in bed.

    I eat ALOT (double the amount of what my friends eat)

    Yet I don't get fat.

    I really wanted to put on some weight...

    you probably have a high metabolism. Try a diet specialist who will tell you the right type of thing to eat to do so.

    gosh this thread is old. wooo that was so long ago. and my friends still nag me + are convinced i did have an eating problem, but i have managed to put to weight again and am genuinely healthier. but looking back i realise i probably was pretty darn close to letting my eating get out of control and it's kinda scary how i would have been if i hadn't caught it in time.

    For a start you won't admit to your problem. You seem to be asking for advice, which means you are concerned. Yet, you still deny that you have an eating disorder. Eating disorders are like alcoholism, alcholics are often in denial about their problem. "I ain't an alcoholic!" is the same as "I ain't got an eating disorder!"

    You are in denial, first you need to admit to yourself that you do indeed have a problem, before you can be helped...

    The first step is admitting you are anoerexic or bullimic.

    You look at the super waifs or whatever they are called and think you must make yourself throw up or starve yourself to look like them. You have a problem, everytime you look in the mirror you think you're fat. You have a problem. Admit. Its okay.

    Admit to yourself then seek help with a doctor.

    for a start, i wrote this nearly 6 months ago.

    and i'm now getting nice and fat. woooooo.
