I don't think there's a bandwidth difference. I think the mods are just generally against a proliferation of private sub-fora. In terms of membership, I guess the coalitions should deal with that themselves. Some may want to use them for 'high-level' planning only, others for more general cross-party chatter and discussion.

I wouldn't imagine there'd be but it's something I'd want to check with the Mods.
I tend to favour having all members in a coalition forum. I'm sure all parties have active and industrious members who aren't MPs. "High-level" planning...could always be taken to PMs if it needs to be kept more private, I would think. Though a coalition by coalition decision sounds fair.

I was thinking they should do this when we first started talking about the coalition. It would make things much easier

I think the sub-forum should be open to all members of the parties, MP's or not. This would probably make it easier for the Admins to implement as they wouldn't have to create extra usergroups or manually adjust user permissions.

It would be available to all coalitions, regardless of whether they are in Government or not. So, if this was to be implemented for this session, Us, the Socialists and Lib Dems would have our own sub-forum and the Conservatives and Libertarians would have their own sub-forum.

It seems that it might be a bit tricky to maintain during switch over sessions and so on, ensuring that all threads are removed to the D&D Recycling Bin so that no information from the previous coalition is leaked. In fact, globals and D&D mods can see the Recycling Bin, so Dan might need his own HOC bin in order to moderate it all effectively. They would have to keep on getting renamed and have permissions constantly changing, but it's a good idea. Unless I've missed something.
I was thinking about this earlier, is there any mod option to copy threads to multiple forums?
