i would partly disagree.
i agree that you should only have 1 antivirus..... meaning zone alarm or avast.

antispyware-wise and other utilities, they all pick up different things, so just run them one after the other. i've never had issues on any pc with them all being installed.
Spybot and Ad-Aware are both on, maybe I should have said disable rather than uninstall.

Ahh, I uninstalled avast and disabled windows defender. Still, if I start getting results I'll know it has to do with these two programs I'll update when my next crash comes in (or if it doesnt >_> =))
Thank you thus far =)

zone alarm is my firewall, and nothing more than.

I tried the Java update, alas another crash occured.

Ill try Kontiki, but i think its part of 4od, and ive been having these problems for a lot longer than Ive had 4oD. If you still think it's worth a pop ill try it.

As a funky but odd sort of update, mutorrent did the same thing, took ages to close down and then I couldnt get any interweb access from my browsers.

Then, somehow related, I couldnt seem to start any other programs, as though my computer were locked somehow, or unable to spare the processing power to do anything. I couldnt even open up task manager after mutorrent had been forced to close.
Anythoughts?

Id like to reiterate Im very appreciative of your continued help

Alas another crash.

I thought id make a quick video of my inability to close Opera, to demosntrate what I cant quite articulate.
I should have also shown an inability to open IE in that video but its only occured too late.

Video link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-vUHAJF1XQ

It may still be processing, so give it a moment

Thank you for your continued attempts

Try google chrome?

Another program worth downloading and scanning with is Malwarebytes, http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyte...-10804572.html

Nobody seems to suggest it anywhere, but last year when I had a major virus on my computer it was the only program which found it (after using AVG, Spybot etc)

Edit, ok spikeymike does recommend this in his tutorial, but anyway it's definitely worth using if you haven't already.

Ok some questions for you OP.

- What did you scan with and was it in safe mode?
- I think maybe uninstall ZoneAlarms Firewall, I always hear it conflict with things, if it doesn't then you know you can always re-install it.
- Did you clean up the registry?

I had AVG, Windows defender, Avast, Spybot and Ad-aware run in turn, each on safe mode. I updated them immediately prior to scanning.

I am uninstalling ZA now, and will see what happens

I used that CCleaner that you recommended and im still getting crashes.

Two videos here. one already posted, and one I just made.
First one shows how I cant close the browser after it stops responding.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-vUHAJF1XQ
Second one shows how I cant connect to anything with browsers but I am definitely conencted to the internet
