Out of more than 2000 students questioned in a YouthSight survey, 63% were unable to recall the date of the EU referendum and 54% were unable to recall the month. Wow.
And we need more evidence why extending the franchise is stupid? If they can't say despite it being shoved down the throat of the nation it really is a sad sign.

It's what happens when the establishment ignore the rise of the far right, tbh it's only really FPTP stopping it here

The establishment is great though, and it's sick to think otherwise especially if it's the far right doing it.

So complacency shouldn't be punished? Mocking your enemies rarely beats them. Instead of arguing against the far right the establishment ridicules them, believing it nothing more than a passing thing.

It is a passing thing, it'll be socialism next and then the far right again.

A passing thing with a serious shot at power. On Monday Austria will likely have a far right president elect; even though it is largely a ceremonial thing is that not rather telling. We can expect Le Penn to push Hollande out of the final ballot next year in France, with AfD posing a serious threat in Germany. As the CDU/CSU tank there AfD rise, and it's only going to get worse in the coming months. Whether it's a passing thing or not we are witnessing something that hasn't happened in nearly a century. Last time this happened we got Europe wide dictatorships and the EU to try to stop it.

I doubt their governments would last very long, it's likely the EU wouldn't let them get their way and the people would be fed up and on to something next.

Given that they're generally eurosceptic too, being nationalists, that would likely only fuel them and contribute to the collapse of the EU

The EU was always going to collapse at some point, and when it does it'll give the far right less to complain about.

Not necessarily causing their collapse given that where the far right is strong euroscepticism generally isn't. Euroscepticism is generally strong in the lasting democracies such as ourselves and Sweden (who would have a strong chance of following us out)

The far right occupied would find themselves alienated anyway, they'll become - listening to Toto Africa - a nuisance for a little bit and then fritter away.

There is actually a massive difference between the far right and far left (bar the two being in two different measures) on that the far right tend to resonate with the innate human them vs us thought, it's practically hardwired into our brains. You beat it by arguing against them, not dismissing them and it seems to be the general case that when you take them seriously it's too late, they're already resonant. The NSPD gained power because by the time the establishment took them seriously they were resonant and the system let that resonance translate into results; Trump, not that he's that far right, is resonant; Front Nationale is resonant; AfD is at the very least getting there; the austrian one is there, as we may well see on Sunday. The only thing blocking the resonance of ukip translating into British political results is FPTP.

A great many radical ideologies require the stimulus to be removed to idly get rid, the stimulus of the far right and nationalism isn't removable until they're in power, either de jura or de facto, and at that point it's too late.

When was the last time the far right was in the position it is today?

The EU isn't going to collapse. With or without the UK, it will go on. France and Germany have too much invested in it to let it collapse.

Until the electorates are fed up of paying for it, and in France unemployed, ignoring the fact the euro zone is set up solely for Germany and the migrant crisis isn't stemmed.

I don't think it will collapse either, though I am sure there will be some other countries who have an in-out referendum within the next five years if we vote to leave.

Finally people are waking up to the fact that mass immigration is dangerous and that Europe is burning .... It's time we leave before we go up in flames with it
