I have none, nor do I require any -
you declared a belief but no evidence to back it up, ah well

Neither are you or anyone else - but you seem to be missing the point. Human rights are based upon the existence of humanity as a social group animal - magic sky dictators have nothing to do with them.
your ignorance is quite incredible. If human beings decided that people who didn't consider themselves more important than an insect got no human rights then guess what - you wouldn't get any. And you couldn't complain about it. Go figure.

Why should I thank God? Should I also thank God for natural disasters, pedophiles and child leukaemia? Ah no, in that case it's not his fault. But, when it's positive, then it's right to thank God.
ok so you don't think you ought to thank God for any of the blessings you have enjoyed in your life, I think that says things about your character

I declared a lack of belief - the burden of proof is not on me for rejecting your claims, but on you to provide evidence for them.

However, if you'd like to play it that way - do you believe that magic ethereal pasta monsters are filming a porno in 10 Downing Street right now? If not, what evidence do you have to back that up?

your ignorance is quite incredible. If human beings decided that people who didn't consider themselves more important than an insect got no human rights then guess what - you wouldn't get any. And you couldn't complain about it. Go figure.
Have a guess why an insect doesn't get human rights? I'll give you a clue - it's in the ****ing name!!! HUMAN rights. Stop bloody talking about insects, they have nothing to do with HUMAN rights. Human rights would exist because, as I've said time and time again, they are a manifestation of the codes of conduct that social group animals have lived by since life began. No need for magic beardy sky daddy to cause that, or even the belief in a magic beardy sky daddy.

so present evidence for your belief there is no God
I'm an agnostic atheist meaning I believe under the current evidence, there seems to be no God but this would be extremely hard, if not impossible to definitely prove but here is a simple thought experiment which I find undermines some beliefs that Christians have about God.

Belief: Christians believe that God is Omnipotent and has the power to do ANYTHING.
Question: If this was the case, is he capable of creating a stone which he cannot lift?

In other words God may or may not exist, but some of the beliefs of many Christians about him appear illogical.

The irony, it hurts.
All things aside I'd like to make a few points.
1. Human rights are not founded on "judeo-christian values" because they actively outlaw things like slavery, rape and genocide.
2. It's possible for us to just form these things without having a God, we can simply say that this is kind of society that we would like to live in and these are the laws which will allow such a society to exist. It's not difficult stuff here.

I think it says a great deal about character. I speaks volumes on gullibility, self worth and the ability to evaluate evidence. It also demonstrates sound morals, as someone who thanks god for giving them food while millions starve watched by a god who could help but chooses not to would be roughly on the same moral level as your average member of the Nazi party. Not actively committing atrocities, but content for them to occur as long as they were safe.

No, I said I didn't believe there was one. Lack of belief in something =/= belief that that something doesn't exist. Once more, you are making the claim, burden of proof is on you. Stop trying to shift it, and instead try to fulfil it.

you just don't get it do you? Don't bother me on this topic again until you grasp it.
No, I don't get why you seem to think we need to see ourselves as more important than insects to continue along a basis that has existed both in us and our ancestors for several million years.

Actually I did come up with it by myself before discovering its a topic that has already had some thought surrounding it. However, this is hardly relevant. The point is that given the paradoxical nature of some beliefs by Christians, I believe it is necessary to alter some conceptions about God if people choose to believe in him.

Does that have any bearing on its relevance? A flaw in your logic is still a flaw, no matter how many times it has been brought up and ignored in the past.

you don't even know if you exist or if anything exists, yet you use and think logic exists is universally correct and your mind exists and can understand it etc. etc.

Let's quit the BS with the "You're not certain on anything so you're talking crap" statement. We've already addressed this in the previous 'Opinions on Athiests' thread whereby we can claim certain things as facts because of its frequency of occurrence and lack of any substantial proof against it.

Anyway, do you have anything to argue against that thought experiment?
