3 at the back, yawn. Another 90 mins of playing to avoid defeat
Tbf, it's the only formation that has worked for us to an extent going forwards as well as defending.

Sacking him right now instead of in the summer is an extremely poor piece of decision making. He was given a blank slate in the summer and that should continue. Everything before that shouldn't be taken into account. Now if he gets to a stage where we're 10 games in and there's only a dozen points on the board, you should think about sacking him, as you would with any new manager. But to think about it seriously after 6 games where key players have been injured and when we've had a tough fixture list, given the way he was given a chance in the summer, is retarded.

That's the only team Rodgers could have selected today.

Agreed. Also got to think about the human aspect really, too. We've brought in McAllister and Sean O'Driscoll and, sacking Rodgers would inevitably mean sacking three men who haven't been at the club for more than three months.

Agree, difficult not to kneejerk when you see no signs of improvement, but he needs to stay until Christmas, and assess then imo, or if it's really horrendous like you say after 10-15.

Everything's so bloody slow. You're never going to create much playing like that. Despite all the possession, Villa have had the clearest chances and we're lucky to be ahead. Considering our liability to defensive **** ups, a one goal lead is not enough and we need to be doing much much more.

When playing 4 at back I prefer Coutinho to play deeper, but it's not the same with 3 at back. Today he needs to be further forward and more central than he has been. His position on the left means so much of the play has been concentrated on that side and we're not using enough of the pitch. We've been playing a 3-1-4-2, need to switch to a 3-4-1-2. Also he needs to stop taking a shot at every bloody opportunity.

Sturridge clearly isn't sharp, he needs to accept that and just keep it simple instead of trying to do all this fancy **** and ****ing it up.
