# Edexcel GCSE Mathematics A Higher Paper 2016 Unofficial Markscheme

1. I think it was:
there are 3/5 male teachers
there are 36 males
How many teachers are there altogether.

So firstly you say 2/5 female teachers... i don't wanna go any further because i got 60 as my final answer whilst others got 90!

Can't the question about point S also be about how S splits the line OT into the ratio 3:1 (i think it's line OT, cant remember which line. i mean the one that we hadn't already been told about by the paper)
Yeah it was line OT , and yep I said it splits the line ratio 3:1 too
3. Does anyone know how many marks the floor varnish question was?? I stupidly worked out the area as 60 and not 50 so hopimg the question wasnt too many marks
4. Did you guys get the vector question?
5. (Original post by eloisenewton_)
Yeah the question was definitely that, I got 0.04 too! yay
would it still be right if you said 4%.
6. No that doesn't mean it's wrong
(Original post by 34908seikj)
Yes as -5m+10 is already simplified, no need to factor it.
7. (Original post by emilia12113)
i got 147
it was 150 because £130 is the lower quartile, meaning 75% of workers got payed £130 or more, and 75% of 200 is 150

40% = 36

Therefore 100% = 36/40 * 100 = 90 people total

people who got 60 are wrong.

No that doesn't mean it's wrong
You could be right, I've never factorised it after simplifying nor have I ever been told to.

it was the other way around, male teachers was 2/5 and female was 3/5
11. Does anyone know the answer to the varnish questions
12. there was a question with fractions a) was 2 4/5 i think and b was 4/5

60% = 36

Therefore 100% = 36/60 * 100 = 60 people total

people who got 90 are wrong.
No because it said 3/5 were female, not male

It was a 5 mark question I think. I made that mistake too but when I checked, I changed my answer to the right one.

No.

3/5 are female.
That means 2/5 must be male.
There are 36 male. Therefore the total number of teachers = 36/(2/5).
This is the same as 36*(5/2), which is 180/2 which is 90.
19. (Original post by AEtemadi)
No because it said 3/5 were female, not male
shhh I did a sneaky edit to correct it
20. I hope whoever made that paper gets ebola
