Murray really shouldn't be struggling against players like Mannarino. Lost the first set to him.

It's worse now - Murray 2 sets down in the 2nd round, playing about as average as I've seen him play.

Last time Murray went out before the 3rd round of a Slam was at the 2008 Australian Open. The only time he's lost in Round 2 was at the 2005 US Open!

I think it is - you're in time to witness the fightback from 0-2 down though.

If Murray is struggling in what should be a simple match, he has no chance against the likes of Djokovic, Federer and Wawrinka.

Paire has done well so far this tournament - could well reach the Quarters.

Djokovic looking vulnerable but lucky to close it out in 3. Sadly for Raonic injuries have been his undoing this year like Nishikori.

    Nadal to retire before Federer?

His record in grand slams this year:

Australian Open - QF (Tomas Berdych)
French Open - QF (Novak Djokovic)
Wimbledon - 2nd round (qualifier Dustin Brown)
US Open - 3rd round (Fabio Fognini)

Now Nadal is out and Murray was taken to 5 by nobody who do we think will win. Djokovic hasn't looked himself recently either. Fed? Someone else?

Cilic is in Djokovic's quarter I think, if he gets by Djokovic which is possible given how shaky Djokovic has looked then he could defend. Wawrinka is making his way through the draw well enough too so I'd favour Wawrinka over Federer right now.

I watched the whole thing last night - still can't quite understand how Rafa lost. I accepted when he lost the 3rd set because that seems part of his game to have a typical blip from being in a dominant position. But the way he couldn't hold the lead when he was starting to push the boot down on Fognini was unbelievable. There are some real demons in Rafa's game right now. That was his first ever loss in a Grand Slam from being two sets up.

Fognini was absolutely ridiculous at times last night. He'll still never have the consistency to be a top 10 player, but boy does he have ability. He was cracking casual winners with frightening pace and scaring Rafa in the last three sets with relentlessly aggressive play. Rafa on the other hand is still playing to get bullied. He started off well, but his serve fell apart and he went back into his shell at the wrong times. At this point, it's pretty worrying that he hasn't made it past the quarters of a Grand Slam for over a year now, and he doesn't appear to be adapting, either. From here he's just got to write the season off and start experimenting in the winter by committing to an aggressive style where he tries to take his mind out of the equation a bit more. There's far too many jokers in the pack (so to speak) for him these days and now most player see a massive target on his back when they play him.

What the hell happened?! I saw that Nadal was 2-0 up and thought he was a certainty to win. Then he loses the next 3.

If he does badly at next years Australian and French, his career is essentially over. His career is arguably over now. He has a huge mountain to climb if he is ever going to win a Grand Slam again, let alone reaching Federer's record of 17.

The American crowd are almost as bad as the French crowd, booing Troicki for asking for new tennis balls. They seem to forget that Troicki handed their man Young a bagel in the second set.
