RayApparently a point of order, this is a dabate about if the house has no confidence in the government and not if the house has confidence in the liberal party poll running abilities.

I'd like to reiterate Ray's reminder to keep discussion civil. There's no need to turn this discussion nasty.

It is strange an election to decide the next government needs to be secret but an internal election to decide the next government does not need to be secret;there is no difference. Few Liberals will submit a constitutional amendment because they do not care about the direction of the Liberals; the members do nothing but vote in polls. I will be blunt with you, I think your inability to secure few Liberal manifesto pledges as policies in 3000 hours, defend legislation from reasonable criticism from Jammy Duel, and not give support to the spending review written by the Chancellor warrants a rethink, or a resignation; I back JoeL1994 for a potential Liberal leader.
If you think I'm an incompetent Leader, say it rather than waffling on. I know where I stand with my party. Our leadership is transparent. Joe would certainly make a great leader after me, as would one or two other members. However, I don't plan on leaving my role just yet.

    (Original post by Jammy Duel)
I think it's a bit redundant saying it went through S rather than GP... AMD referring to Joe

I thought LP was saying that Labour should have thought it odd if GP was going to them, so I said she wasn't anywhere near actual negotiations other than in the party thread. That was all.

    (Original post by Life_peer)
Well, you said: “If Saoirse didn't have GP who saw that we thought Labour's offer at the time was rubbish, we maybe would have gone with the Tories...” Okay, no mention of our proposal, so I take that back, but the effect was practically the same.
I think I've confused us both. Ignore that last comment xD I just meant that GP didnt do any of the actual negotiating, though Saoirse did.

I maintain that we possibly would have gone with the Tories, but I also think Labour would have given us the offer anyway as we were going to tell them that they could better your offer or not get into government.

PetrosAC I do not think you are an incompetent leader, but I do believe you need to have a rethink about where the Liberals stand, the position of the Liberal Party going forward, what the Liberal Party believes in, and what the Liberal Party aims to achieve. The Liberal Party appears to be a refugee party with members who cannot agree, a party line that changes, a far-left member, and no long term plan.

Thank you for your concern Nigel, but I think we'll be fine. We know where we are going, and that'll be translated throughout the rest of the turn and especially at the next election.

I won't be revealing such information. Nevertheless, members who make such comments will be made aware that it is not acceptable.

By my reckoning there are at least 47, 'legal' alternatives.

    Of the likely ones:

    ConKip
    LibConKip
    LabLibGrn
    LabLibSoc
    LabCon.

    The top is most likely.

So I should vote based on whether I have confidence in a Green minority government?
To be fair, if we're looking for a government that would have high cabinet activity, the Socs and UKIP have been the ones with 100% voting records, ipso facto they should be given the choice to be included in a new government coalition.

Of course whether it is within their interests to be aligned with one another is a completely different matter.

I was simply suggesting that there is a line which the lefties are about to cross, I'd say.
Again, the only leftists in gov are Labour, and partly Liberal.

    (Original post by Life_peer)
There are also Socialists who are slowly but steadily becoming irrelevant,
    Cheap shot.

    (Original post by Life_peer)
yet still very important when the House is split such as now
    Ahh right.

    Fair enough.

    (Original post by Life_peer)
Unfortunately, they are also naturally aligned with Labour and exceptionally connect by their history (many dual members, etc.). Socialist policies are contrary to ours and these two are quite partisan so even if the Government were doing absolutely nothing, they would support them, because it's always better than a Conservative-led government.
I wouldn't be so sure about that.
    (Original post by Life_peer)
However, since Labour don't need them in the Government coalition, they just float around, happy to serve when they're needed.
    Again, cheap shot.
We only had problems in this recent election with Corbyn's character assassination and poor image.

Probably not enough at the moment to play a significant role if there was to be a change of government.
