What are you saying about NI's biggest party? I don't follow.
ITV just said the DUP said they won't support austerity.

It's not 'irrelevant'. It means people really don't want them any more. I don't know why you keep trying to excuse what has quite obviously been a major disaster.

In other news, The Rt Hon Nick Clegg is projected to hold his seat with 38% (down from 53%).

In one area. We knew they'd lose voters. Why are you acting as if this is significant? They'd never win these seats.

...Because it is significant. They have next to no support despite being in power.

I consider these Parties that don't go acroos the whole country and thrive on irrational nationalist feeling to be Mickey Mouse.

Also, they're the protestants right? I come from an Irish Catholic backgrounds. The fact that the blacks are deemed heroic fro fighting against oppression but when the Irish (the real Irish, not the Scottish invaders) fought back against theirs we demonise them. It kind of irks me.

23.57 Failure for Galloway?

The BBC is reporting that it's looking like Respect's George Galloway has lost Bradford West to Labour's Naz Shah.

I think this would be even more significant for LD's future. Who else could replace Clegg?

In three constituencies, which aren't on their radar at all. Their strategy was based around keeping their core seats. We don't know that they haven't been successful in that. The Lib Dems tend to have historic links to certain seats from what I gather.

David Laws possibly, but my preference would be Alexander. Farron or even Vince Cable are other possibilities.

The DUP is the chief Unionist party, and yes, they proven to be very petty regarding deals with Sinn Fein (declaring democratic votes undemocratic if their side doesn't win)

arguably Sinn Fein are irrelevant since they don't take seats, Lib Dems aren't in NI - are they irrelevant too?

Dr Cable is a bit too old and he may lose his seat, too.

Sinn Fein are unimportant too. Lib Dems are unimportant in N Ireland.

True. It'll be clear after we see who keeps their seat. I do hope Clegg keeps his.

00.06 Goodbye Danny

Reports out of Inverness suggest that Liberal Democrat Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander "has accepted" he has lost his seat.

Methinks Clegg going away would probably be better for the party's future.

ITV just said the DUP said they won't support austerity.
Depends, they want private investment and further trade links within the UK, but have not outlined any specific objection to current Tory policy except to water down the bedroom tax.
