Performance wise it wasn't great but coming off a loss a win against rivals to stay in the cup is good. I liked the team selection overall all thing considered. Good to see a more balanced midfield set up, and good to see Jose bringing on Morgan instead of a more familar choice in Fellaini. The choice of Lingard over Young was fair, but over Depay suggests quite clearly Jose has reservations over his defensive skills and decision making. Need to improve those if he wants to be selected in these tighter games.

The fact that he fielded a reserve side and you played full strength was an indicator of who needed to win this game more.
While our side was stronger than theirs, their team is deeper than ours. I don't think they played a particularly weakened side they are mostly all first team players. While the likes of Navas, Sane and Iheanacho aren't first choices they are no more reserve options than Mata, Carrick or Rojo. The only reserve option you could say were Maffeo and Garcia. Plus when you consider Jose as a manager and Pep as a manager, I don't think either took the game more seriously. Jose was never going to do an LVG and bring some kid you'd never heard of from the academy. Only name who you thought could have realistically featured in a cup game for us might have been Darmian.

They were decent in midfield at times but going forward, they were embarrassing. First time in over 4 years they haven't registered a shot on target in a game.

Pogba and Zlatan were awful. Herrera and Valencia really are excellent at putting a real shift in though. DDG could've stayed at home.
I think you are going a bit over the top by saying we fielded our strongest team.
Rojo and Blind CB partnership? No mkhitaryan? No Rooney (He is still our captain)? 35 year old Michael Carrick in midfield? No Martial?

Far from our strongest first XI.

So Leroy Sane is a reserve player apparently, despite costing 46 million.

Blind is first team at the moment - the only non first team players you had were Rojo and Carrick (even though the latter is your best midfielder).

Mkhitaryan isn't first team at all and severely out of favour.
    Rooney is injured/out of favour.
Martial isn't first team - seems to be behind Rashford.

Overall, you had a near full strength side and there's no arguing that. It was a narrow, unconvincing victory but it's a cup game so who cares how you get through?

When City have a fully fit side, does he start? No he doesn't.

Sturridge is a reserve for us despite being one of the most prolific strikers in the league.

As a fan of a club who owns Paul Pogba, surely you must know that a price tag isn't everything?

No if we are talking quality wise, Mkhitaryan is first team no doubt about it. First choice CB partnership is Smalling and Bailly forcing blind out of the team. Martial is also first team players. The teams were fairly even in terms of first team players.
Nolito, Sane, Aguero, Sterling, Fernando, Kolarov all featured for city.

Do Rojo, Carrick, Matastart when United are at full strength with Mkhitaryan playing? You can't not say that City did not want this game with the changes which Pep made.

Do we really care what rival fans who hate Man United think?

We beat City, I don't know why we need them to tell us whether we can be happy about a result.

Remember RK said that if a player is not getting picked constantly then they are not good enough period!!
    #RkKnowsBest #InRkWeTrust
That was in response to you saying Pereira deserved to start.

Big difference between a youngster with potential and an established player (bear in mind he's just recovered from an injury which he aggravated playing too early).

We're not talking quality wise because that's not what "first team" means...

Mkhitaryan is not currently a first team player for Manchester United. That's simply a fact.

Blind has been playing LB since Shaw is returning from injury and still looks unfit. I'd rate Blind higher than Shaw regardless - the former is a very underrated player in my opinion.

When was the last time Martial started a league game for you? You can't just say he's first team when he clearly isn't...

Sane and Fernando are not first team players for City. Nolito isn't a guaranteed starter either and Kolarov came on at half time.
Aguero and Sterling only got subbed on for about 20 minutes so you can't count them in the general scheme of things.

United had about 9/10 first team players starting today. City had 2/3.
It's always nice to beat your rivals but don't try to say that it was anything more than victory over City reserves.

What is your obsession with Mkhitaryan?

I agree he's a great player but he isn't in favour and there's absolutely no evidence that he'll be starting for United anytime soon.

Mata is obviously a first team player, what are you even on about?
As I said above, you had 9/10 first teamers starting today.

Pep has to make those changes - what's it gonna look like if he doesn't react to being behind?
If City had aspirations for winning this game, they would've fielded a near full strength side like you did. They didn't do that.

See who drawing - United or City?
United at home to Burnley and City away to West Brom.

A draw for both sides isn't out of the question really...
