i havent got any replies yet but theres one tomorrow so ive decided to book it. I was just wondering if it was any good
I went on one, and I'd recommend it. Its a bit expensive but then if you focus on what they say, it's useful!

Hey, sorry if this is a silly question but what are the ethics surrounding oral cancer?
One of the issues is that oral cancer patients dont get as much after care as any other cancers. When someone has oral cancer, very often they have to pay for the following treatment such as restorative procedures afterwards because it's the dentist they see and not a specialist oncologist. NHS usually doesn't pay for anything more than a denture in this case. Shouldn't they deserve plastic surgery and cosmetic denistry to recover?

The public are generally less aware of oral cancer and so are less sympathetic towards someone who has half their face missing as compared to someone who has had a mastectomy. The effects of oral cancer may be a lot harder to hide as well.

It's low on the list of "medical priorities"
There are a lot more issues, it's worth looking up

Theres also the issue of dentists not checking for signs of oral cancer, for one of the dentist that i went to work experience she didnt prioritise checking for oral cancer whereas the other told me it was one of the most important things you do. Its seriousness isnt amplified enough |:

I suppose so. As long as you put it as 'something I saw while I was gaining clinical experience...' it should be okay, no?
i hope so aslong as we dont mention names or anything it should be okay

Yes, it's a confidentiality breach. Which is a big no-no for dentists. So it's just good practice. Besides, you might as well just in case they make a big deal of it

they make you feel quite at ease and ask a starter question to keep you relaxed, i.e. i got "how are your a levels going". I thought they made you feel calm and acted interested in what you were saying. They didnt care too much for your dental knowlege, it was more about what skills you posess and what you took away from work experience xxx

Sheffield wouldn't right now, I think, since they have interviews on the 7th/8th march 2013 only. They'll probably give out decisions next year.

Congrats dude,I had mine this time last year from Bham. Try not to be too nervous or they'll pick upon it and scrutinize you. I kind of messed it up with regards to the random ethical questions they pulled out, but hopefully you'll be fine.
What kind of ethical question do Birmingham ask you?
