Urgh. Switzerland and Belgium are not '****-tier teams'.
well they certainly aren't good teams based on this World Cup

and I was referring mainly to their group stage games

How on earth have Costa Rica been one of the worst teams in this World Cup?

Not so much the football, although your legendary coke-fiend did cheat us in '86.

It's the other things - like invading our territory, starting a war and then crying like *****es for the next 30 years after getting spanked on their own doorstep by a nation thousands of miles away.

I can't see how you can seriously maintain that Germany were taxed more yesterday than Argentina were today. Sure, tonight's game had a pretty low tempo but fatigue will be greater for the Argentina players simply by virtue of an extra half an hour.
Granted, there will be carried over fatigue but Germany's downfall is their overconfidence. Germany's defence is suspect which is what Argentina will capitalize on in the final, so much so that it will be low scoring and a slog that will go right to the line. Messi is a key player who will raise his game for this final.

    PRSOM.

messi was a waste today tho.

    Thanks.

IMO, messi wasn't 'messi' today. Would Arg beat Holland without him.....no way.

Something tells me he will get his stuff together for the 2014 World Cup final.

Messi is due a big performance - he knows he can claim the title of the legend of football if he helps Argentina lift the world-cup.
I just feel that Germany have had their best performance 1 game too early.
Aguero also should be match-fit and sharp for Sunday and Argentina now know they have quality players on the bench in all departments with Demichilis coming to the party.
Argentina's top 3 will over-run Germany's high line - Aguero - Messi - Higuain with Di Maria also coming back will result in Argetina scoring 1 if not atleast a couple within 90 minutes.
Messi to claim legendary status in 4 days time.

I wouldn't say either was much harder than the other. Holland had the slightly harder group (obviously would be a different story if Spain had showed up). But at the end of the day, argentina have been grinding out results even when playing poorly

    I reckon you're right.

I called Argentina 4 years ago but for some reason changed to Brazil or France. Didn't expect them to get so far.

I cant believe Holland lost! :'( I think Holland's goal keeper was getting tensed and under pressure so he couldn't concentrate on the ball, but I must say it was a tough match... before I predicted holland would win 4:2 but after the match its the other way -.-'

Gutted really. This Dutch team is QF at best but you just had a feeling that if they got past Arg that they'd be able to find a way vs Germany...guess Holland will never win the WC, the great perennial nearly men. Only now we lose playing negative football, killing the very romance of totaalvoetbal...

RVP has never done a thing for Holland in a major tournament either, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar should have started ffs

And how is Cillessen ahead of Krul?

And why is Vlaar taking the first pen?

I'd love it if you were right about Messi, he is simply sensational to watch when at his best, but I really can't see it happening tbh, and certainly not against Germany who would have seen how other teams successfully rendered him ineffectual relatively easily and Argentina's top 3 struggled to over-run Iran, so I really can't see them over-running the ruthless and efficient Germany side, I'd be very very surprised if Germany don't lift the WC on Sunday.

Heart is telling me Argentina may just steal a win if they have Di Maria, Higuain , Aguero and Messi starting (I only want them to win because of Messi). But head is telling me that the ruthless Germany efficiency will be too much.

And why is Vlaar taking the first pen?
Apparently in the press conference LVG suggested 2 players declined to take the first penalty, so he turned to Vlaar.
