Well done on getting an offer!! I've got my Primary PGCE interview for Cambridge next Tuesday. It's good to hear that everyone was so lovely! I hope you don't mind but I have a few questions :-)

What kind of questions did they ask you in the individual interview? And please can you give me an idea of what happens in the group activity and what does the written task entail (related to the article), is it just answering questions about it? Only if you're allowed to tell me about these things of course. Thank you, would really appreciate it! :-)
Thank you...well done on your interview I'm not really sure how much I'm allowed to say on here but I'll do my best to help you and not break any rules!

The group activities are nothing to worry about, they're quite engaging and dare I say enjoyable just make sure you speak enough but not too much...balance! What article were you given to read? The individual interview was quite intense for me...I gave my presentation about reading so they pushed me with questions about a subject I didn't have much experience with! Don't worry about this as they just want to see that you can give an intelligent and honest answer! They engage with you a lot which is good as you don't feel as if you are talking to yourself. It is an intense couple of hours but overall enjoyable relaxed as the interviewers are so nice, there will be 4-5 of them there on the day!

I'm not sure how much this helps, I hope it does

I've just been offered a place for the early years PGCE at Bath Spa. I'm so excited! I've still got interviews at UWE and Somerset SCITT in mid January so I'm keeping my options open for the moment. It's so good though to have an offer and will make me much more relaxed for the next interviews. Good luck to everyone else and let's hope a few more of us get a great early Christmas present in the form of an offer of a place.
Congratulations on your offer from Bath Spa. That's great. Were you at the interview on Wednesday 18th December?? I was - I think you left me a message but I can't find it now - I don't seem to be able to find my way around this site very well!! I wish I had taken details of some of the people I met at the interview. would be good to know how people in my group got on. i got offered a place too!!!

Ps if people are relying on emails from UCAS I wouldn't, got an offer at 12 noon (after being an impatient checker), but still never had an email saying something had changed!

I'm feeling so disheartened I was unsuccessful in getting a plac last year so I have applied again, I had an interview yesterday and have already been rejected based on my confidence (same problem as last year) I'm feeling rubbish now because everyone says they can't imagine me being a teacher and the fact that universities are saying that too sucks! I have my last interview on Wednesday and it's my dream place but I'm worried I'll have the same issues. Any tips for confidence ?

So sorry to hear this Josephine, must be really disappointing. I'm not sure I can offer any advice on how to improve your confidence in a matter of days but why not try to 'fake it 'til you make it'? Easier said than done I know, but eye-contact and smiling can really make all the difference, even if you're dying inside. Do you know that you were rejected based on your confidence or is that just your opinion?

Yeah they said by confidence and maturity? I aas quite offended bu the maturity bit because i was taking it seriously and thinking constantly about answering the questions formally. They said i was a friendly and likeable person but they didnt think id have the respect of the kids. I just feel awful! Ive always wanted to be a teacher, i dont know what ill do if i fail again

My PGCE Primary interview for Cambridge is on Tuesday 21st! And also my first PGCE interview, so very nervous!! When's yours?
Mines on Friday the 24th! Same! Really unsure about what I am going to do for the presentation and how much preparation I need to do for the article! But I have an exam Friday and essay Monday so won't really be looking at it until after then. Have you taken your skills test yet? I won't have done mine, have them booked for the 27th/28th so hope it doesn't go against me! Can I ask what university you attend at the moment - I'm imagining it being me and loads of current Cambridge students! I also have no idea how I am getting there as my interview starts at 9am and I am coming from Southampton and there is no train that will get me there on time so might have to spend the night before in Cambridge!

Hi there, I had my primary interview for Cambridge last week and I got an offer yesterday! Don't be scared, the interviewers are so nice there and the day runs exactly the way they tell you in the welcome letter! I have accepted my offer but I was at one other interview before Cambridge and it wasn't half as nice a process! If you want to know anything (non-specific of course) let me know
Well done! That's nice to know, thank you Can I ask if you did/ are doing your undergraduate degree at Cambridge or not? I haven't really thought about it much as I have exams/essays at the moment but I might have more questions once I finish them on Monday! I have no ideas about which colleges to pick either!

Anyone got the secondary science interview on friday for University of Birmingham? Also for people who have had to do a presentation on a topic of their choice.

I have to do a 15 minute presentation to 6 people on a chemistry topic of muy choice suitable for KS3, with no powerpoint allowed. Any ideas on how I can make the presentation more interactive with visual aids and handouts?

Try and make some colourfull cuttings of whatever u r including in Ur topic.eg: chemical formulas or atoms and molecules, give the audience to arrange it to make a formula or the definition of whatever u want to explain, that will show how u can inculcate the idea of the topic in student's mindrive and than begin with yr topic details.
    Hope this helps.good luck!

Nope, I'm from Ireland so I'm doing my undergrad over here! There was only 8 of us at my interview and I don't think anybody was doing their undergrad in Cambridge. I saw in another post you have to travel to Cambridge for your interview, I would definitely recommend staying over...I stay in a hostely type B&B really near the Education Dept. which was perfect...I can link it to you if you'd like? I chose Darwin and Homerton, slightly regretting choosing Homerton but not much I can do now!

Husband has got an offer at BCU for Primary, found out today! So pleased for him, he thought he had messed up the general knowledge test but he obviously didn't. Prob didn't hurt that he had already done his skills tests. Now to start saving up to pay the bills/mortgage next year...

Hi, I'm sure you have probably heard this many times before but I had/have a serious issue with confidence. Most of the people that know me find that quite surprising. I have given presentations in front of colleagues I've worked with for years and still stutter and stumble. I recently had two interviews for PGCE/Schools direct, one of which was in front of a panel (the thought of which had me trembling) and the other process included a presentation in front of 10 strangers. The best advice I can give you is to try and relax and be yourself. I kept imagining my interviews as conversations, which isn't very easy to do when you have a panel staring back at you, but it can work. I actually now have offers from both of them, it seems the hardest part was actually getting the interview and now deciding between the two.

Fingers crossed for your last interview. If however you are unsuccessful, and this is truly a career you wish to pursue, there are lots of things you can do to help increase your confidence. It is something that will be tested everyday as a teacher as you will be standing in-front of a classroom of students, and very often with a teacher observing you. Try and get some experience in classrooms, getting TA work isn't very easy but the more experience you have, the better for your confidence.

I hope this helps, best of luck for Wednesday.

I've been waiting to hear back from one of my choices for about a month now. Really annoying seeing as I want to accept an offer. I know I could ring up and ask them to release me but I just want to know if they would have given me an offer or not
