We're a broad church and always will be, we'll have a few radicals on either end of the spectrum but that doesn't matter because we all want the same thing at the end of the day. Labour's not going to be radical.

The greens aren't that radical, they've only put a despot in charge.
He's talking about last term when the Greens created a reputation for being uncompromisingly left-wing in the face of Labour's sudden 'pragmatism' (which I attribute to our accomplishing most of our goals in the previous terms).

I think he was talking about stuff like when they tried to nationalise farms.

James Milibanter really, farms? To be fair it wasn't so much a complaint about your party more a statement of a radical policy (although it's a stupid policy).

Not really our leader and deputy leader are centre-left and our chair is centrist.

I've been doing a little looking round, lot to read and make sense of. Would I be right to say you are to the left of the actual Labour Party? Well left of the Party as of the 2015 manifesto.

Hello I'm the Leader of the Party.

Whilst the membership accommodates a relatively broad range of views from 'radical' socialism to more centrist social democracy the TSR Labour Party is considerably more 'left-wing' than the RL Labour Party has been in recent times.

On economic issues we take a Keynesian approach believing in government intervention to strengthen the economy with a focus on the growth of small and medium sized businesses (by establishing a British Investment Bank dedicated to investing in SMEs) and using novel forms of taxation (such as Wealth and Land Value taxes as well as the 'Mansion Tax') in the hopes of reducing the need for regressive taxes such as VAT.

Our social policy is consistently liberal with current policies including giving voting rights to prisoners and the controlled legalisation of most recreational drugs. As such we consider ourselves to be a libertarian party though we have taken a more statist hardline approach to crime.

Our major goals this term have been democratising reforms in the electoral system (we've replaced the current FPTP model for General Elections), the House of Lords (which we are currently trying to reform to a mixed House of appointed and elected members) and devolution (we have intervened in the Welsh education system to prevent schooling where English is banned).

If you have any more questions feel free to contact me at any time.

    PS. Nice avatar.

Hey Kay, it does seem like you'd be a good fit in the party, it's nice to find passionate members who'll bring a great deal of debate and excitement to the house. Ray's a top notch bloke and there's plenty in the party (including myself) who'll do what they can to help you find your feet.

I'd certainly be interested in debate, and through that learning, I have my opinions but I'm still learning lots and finding my place with everything. I'd certainly be interested in joining, and you guys here seemed the natural choice, and Ray, if I may call you that, has cleared up a lot and made the party seem appealing to me.

And well lets share the praise about the avatar, best solution
