    Indeed. You're welcome

Hmm...not too worried about the science so essay section but a bit worried about section 1 (basically critical thinking ). Hopefully I should be able to improve though :crossedf:

Thanks, I'll try not to! I hope so, I hope so! :afraid: Our school have given me like 5 tests over the next two days too, so I don't know what I should revise...don't want to do badly on the tests, reports are coming out soon!

Hey to whoever remember me as 'that guy that constantly posted on the year 12 thread last year'.

I'm in need of a MyMaths login, could anyone help me out? I'm literally only using it for the C3 revision aids.

    Thanks very much.

PS. Obligatory shout-out to everyone from last year, should be on here more often now that my exercise routine(s) have quietened down for winter.
Don't have a MyMaths login, unfortunately, but welcome back!

    Thank you!

    I think this is C3!

Could you explain how to integrate 2x(3+x^2)^3 - I have a question in my homework about this, and i'm not sure exactly how to do it because of the 2x at the front

You could take a substitution of u = 3 + x^2 and go on from there.

Or, you could (almost) do it in your head (i.e. by recognition)...what does (3+x^2)^4 differentiate to?

    You could just expand that

    University choices! :afraid:

If you're thinking about applying to university and want your choices in the list below, quote this post and I'll add them in for you!
Hi - Can you change Economics to Politics and the Grade to an A please - don't know where getting a C in economics came from?

Also - I have offers from Portsmouth and UEA (as you know)

    (4)(3+x^2)^3 x 2x ->
    2x(3+x^2)^3 integrated with respect to x = (2x(3+x^2)^3)/4 (I think)
We've learnt how to do it via recognition, and I kind of understand it. However, I have no idea about the substitution method that you stated above

f you have not covered substitution don't worry about it.

Not quite, you don't need the 2x in front and it's to the power of 4. (i.e. the answer should just be \dfrac{(3+x^2)^4}{4} and some constant)

    thank you againnn!

but what happens to the 2x which at the front of the (3+x^2)^4? Is it not involved in the integration?

    Use integral u dv/dx= uv-integral v du/dx

for me, the note box is a tad confusing
As for the mock, don't worry, u should recover from it (in my first M2 assesment this year, I got an e ) Everybody will screw up at some point.
Anyways, better now than in the exam
