The tests are brutal and really have no bearing on how good you'd be as a clinical scientist. I thought the tests were easier than last year but from what everyone's saying here maybe It's wishful thinking. They should email us straight away but the fact it takes 3 days to get back to us indicates that they're moving the goalposts after we've all submitted our applications.
I didn't think my questions were necessarily getting harder each time, which was a bad sign. That was just numerical, felt a bit 50/50 on logical.
What you said about them having no bearing, it just goes to show they know plenty of candidates could do the job, but there's simply too many capable people.

It's by no means the perfect system. They want people they can rely on to become good clinical scientists, who aren't doing it for a free MSc and who won't bottle it when confronted with having to do the vast amount of work for the competences with little support from their department. In Biochem this year there has already been 1 or 2 people drop out because of the work involved - they were also writing up their PhDs though.
They will inevitably lose a lot of good candidates who don't meet the standard in the tests but as you say, there are many others to take their place. In their minds, they can justify doing it because they are recruiting the "best" who passed the tests and the interview.

Seems ridiculous that anyone would do it for a free MSc, such an important position. But whoever gets it gets it.

''For 2016, shortlisting for all specialisms will take place from Thursday 18th February 2016 toFriday 11th March 2016.''

Surely this means we will hear about the longlist today? This waiting game is painful!

Argh this is painful! I bet it'll be at the end of the day. Or they will be late and we'll know whenever. It can't be that difficult to just change a status.

I find myself constantly checking my emails too, not feeling as confident as I did last year with the tests though. It felt like I did a lot of guessing with a few of the questions, I thought last year's one wasn't so bad, but still not sure how I passed them last year! Best of luck everyone x

Congrats! May I ask what specialism you applied for?

Basically under application status it says longlisted. I think oriel is having issues at the moment so I hope it's not a mistake! I've applied for medical physics

Don't get me worried haha. I'll be gutted if my longlisted disappears 🙈

I think I remember reading that it seemed to change by specialism. Mine is still "applied".

Does anyone know when in-service applicants are supposed to find out if they've passed the tests?
