Packet loss and jitter = frame rate problems?
Definitely. That's horrible man, compare it to this:

You shouldn't be losing any packets at all really...

Ok then, i'll be the first to post my PS3 setup, looked at the OP and there's a list of about a billion people there when we have about 15 active members so i ran off from it again....

PC on left hand screen and then PC/Xbox360/PS3 on right hand screen.... Single button transfer between Xbox360/PS3.

Oh, and all 3 things run through the same speaker system and all 3 of them work through my Xbox360 turtlebeaches, not sure how that even works because i looked at the wires and it really shouldn't work...

Yea, partly due to cable length and didn't want it on the floor overheating.

It's plenty out of the way there.

Normally my hub sits just infront of it on top of my base unit when i'm at "home" in devon and have internet to Xbox/PS3 but at uni i don't bother as it doesn't work on ps3/xbox anyway...

It's never been this bad....could it be because of a dodgy ethernet cable?

it could be anything, could be due to high network traffic due to number of students, buffers get full and packets discarded, could be the firewall, could be a cable fault, tho in that case i would assume you would loose more

dont know is my final answer

Lol
Its definitely the high traffic because its a sunday but its never been this bad...My jitter and packet loss have always been fine...my cable looks really worn out...i'll probably pick up a new one...I tried playing some cod and it was impossible...in an hour I got into one game which got disconnected because of connection interrupted..

Next day delivery over standard delivery from Play? :dontknow:

Upto you, I'm not a fan of Play. I think their website is pants tbh.
Can't cancel it now anyway  I did try to find a better price (I know that eBuyer worked out more)!

Ah I should have been more specific, mine (and from what I can tell, his too) is probably some cheap model Syncmaster, 711MP. I can't even remember how I got it. But I only use it for my desktop. I have a 42" LG TV for the PS3

My pictures came out larger than expected so I'll link to them rather than embedding them.

The PS3, PS Move, Turtle Beach headphones DVD player/surround sound thing and Sky box. The xbox and Wii occasionally make an appearance here too. They're difficult to set up with that mess of cables...

Same again, with TV
http://img46.imageshack.us/i/16012011065.jpg/

Most of my PS3 games. And a space where my friend stole Uncharted back yesterday
http://img706.imageshack.us/i/16012011068.jpg/

And thought I'd throw this in, I tidied the desk the other day so it's the only opportunity I'll get for a while to take a picture. PC, laptop, more mess of cables, Black Ops RC car just on the right of the picture, and cat asleep on the chair. She's usually either there or on the bed along with the dog...
