    Sixth form is going splendidly, next week is my first interview for prefect. Chemistry is great, especially since I'm getting the top marks in my class.

    Mangoooo :jumphug:
    :hi::jumphug:

    Totally not moving to Australia any more; staying with good friends of the family (they're Irish and fun and I'm friends with their son in the year below) :awesome:

    It would be totally retarded for me to go into Australian Year 12. I'd be with 15-16 year olds :mmm: The school leaving age there is much lower

    That's great news, I'm so glad to hear that . How are you finding sixth form so far?

    Cr = 1s2, 2s2, 2p6, 3s2, 3p6, 3d5, 4s1

    Cu = 1s2, 2s2, 2p6, 3s2, 3p6, 3d10, 4s1

    D sub shell can hold 10, and it's more stable to have the 5 orbitals either half filled or fully filled.
    (Original post by techno836)
    it's better for copper and chromium to take an electron out of the 4S orbital and put it in the 3D orbital for better stability as it is more stable to have a half full or full outer orbital than an inner one
    Thank you!

    Aww, I always thought that psychology looked interesting ! Not interesting enough to actually take it though :teehee: .

    It's been great so far for me :yep: Pleased with my subject combo. At the moment I'm not that overwhelmed by the workload but I don't want to jinx it...
