Here's a question:

Do you equate being in a private school with having a successful future?

I, myself, have no opinion on this and I say that with all sincerity. I'm just interested in seeing where everybody stands on the topic.
Certainly not.

Ghosh, there isn't an elephant in the room. I'm not asking this to cause trouble, I'm just interested in where we all stand on the topic, that's all. I'll quit talking about it since state vs. private schools are the least of my worries, and as I said before, I was only interested in finding out some thoughts and opinions. Sorry if I've caused some upset or whatever else.

If the only schools around you are low achieving state schools then I would agree with the argument that private schools are better, purely for the standard of education. That said, some private schools aren't as good as state grammar schools, so it works both ways. If you can find a high achieving state school then you're sorted
I would class grammar as the best, then private & lastly state.
Not to say state means you're a complete failure; I go to a state! 70% 5A*-C, don't know if thats considered good

Ghosh, I'm at a state school, and look at me. I'm a success, or at least I think I am. Or, maybe, when it comes to state schools, there are more failures then there are successes? I dunno.
If only everyone had your confidence.

Piece, I'm not confident, not in the least bit. I equate my "success" with being able to have done the A Levels I wanted to do without having to resit any of my GCSEs. Apart from that, well... not much else to say, I'm afraid.

I agree with what led said...I think I'm the only one who does

Relate success & private school; you stand a better chance at getting better grades & going on to (hopefully) become successful.

That doesn't mean I think you can only be sucessful BY a private education, thats not true.

well my position:

it is easier to do well at a private school than a state school. and yes i say that even though i am at a private school. do i put my intelligence down to going through private education? maybe.

I'm sure I'd have loved it, too, Jaz. Would have gotten in to a really rough and tumble debate with some Tories, I'd reckon.

Compare that to me, I have one hour a day free, where I can do whatever the hell I like, sit in common room, go library, even go home if I lived close enough!
I'd don't know how I'd cope with your sort of regime :eek3:

Right, Ghosh, so, you think that, if you'd have gone to a state school, rather than a private school, that you wouldn't be as intelligent as you are?

If so, then, that's your opinion, and I respect you for it. My opinion is this: intelligence is intelligence. You're born with it. You understand?
