I hope you realise that when you get to KCL you won't be the local black guy anymore, despite this it seems you may be the only local black guy studying English Language & Linguistics

Anyone doing Economics & Management? If you've been accepted, what are your grades like? Is this course really oversubscribed, will it go into Extra?

Hi,

I applied for the International Science Foundation Program and received an unconditional offer. I paid the deposit to secure my spot a while ago, but never received any email or message of confirmation.

Can anyone tell me if that's normal?

Thank you
Hi! I have also received an unconditional offer from ISFP at KCL, and I paid the deposit but haven't got any confirmation letter either. However, as I know when staff checks your deposit, you can access the KCL website to apply for accommodation. Just type your ID and PW(those're on your offer letter) and if you can log in, it means that they have checked your deposit!! Hope this helps

By the way, which pathway have you chosen to study? and have you chosen your accommodation? Thank you

Aye, we got that, but any idea specifically which part of the finance world? I ask this because your degrees seem to be pretty different KCL and Bath are both more general Business courses and City is far more specialised towards IB, furthermore the KCL course is more varied in module options than the one offered by Bath so it would be a big help if you told us something more specific than something finance oriented; I mean I knew you wanted to do finance but I was enquiring more about which field in finance you wanted

In conjunction with this it would also help if you told us what kind of university experience you would like, what you look for in a uni, I mean I could tell you to go to King's because it's the best (completely no bias here whatsoever ) but that might not be to your benefit, should you turn up and find out that you hate city life.

Yeah, I'm looking for a course which could bring me in the vicinity of a IB/HF job.

Although I do agree with you in terms of King's most likely having better the best student life, the fact that the Business Management course is considered a "social science/public policy course" is what puts me off about King's. Ideally I'd want to live in London leaving me with City and King's, however Bath is consistently in the top 5 for UK business. City and Bath also offer placements which King's does not, which is also one of the benefits of living in London (financial district+internship possibilities) which I feel is somewhat wasted by going to King's. Ultimately, Bath seems like a somewhat random, isolated area which is not really what I'm looking for. But its rankings are superior to those of King's and City, leaving me in a bit of a pickle.

I can't really decide between: a good (overall ranked) university with a good social life, a social science course with no sandwich year possibilities OR a specified course, average student life (although still in london), a business school and a sandwich option OR a somewhat unknown university internationally with good business rankings, sandwich possibility and a somewhat unfavorable location/student life?

Originally I was set for King's, but the fact that it's a social science course as opposed to a business course makes me think that the course doesn't have quite as good links/connections to finance and is more qualitative than quantitative. I've also heard that the facilities in which the BM course finds itself are somewhat outdated and I get the impression that the course is somewhat swept under the rug as it shares facilities with quite unrelated courses?

PS do you take the BM course at King's? and how're the athletics clubs provided at King's? Thanks!

Nope I'm just trying to help you out, I don't think that the course structure directly translates to connections in the job market, that's a different ballpark all together, if you're really worried about getting industry connections then I think City or Bath might be your best bets, not because of the business degree structure but because from what I've heard they're targeted more in the world of finance. (Take this with a pinch of salt and do some research yourself because I'm not an expert here)

For more help it might be work checking out the IB part of the TSR here or look at the IB page here

Here you can find a list of all KCL sports clubs
