# M1 OCR (Not MEI) Exam - 9/06/2015 watch

1. (Original post by kkeasylearning)
initial velocity was 14
Worse part is i knew it felt dodgy (though i suppose getting the correct answer would have felt dodgy).

So i went back and did it again at the end, didn't reread the question so didn't see initial velocity...

I'm such an idiot at times.

at least it was only 3 marks. there is a lot of room for error in terms of grade boundaries in m1. i think 58 will be the boundary for an A
3. Seriously, was the force pushing or pulling on the block?
4. (Original post by ChoccyPhilly)
Seriously, was the force pushing or pulling on the block?
You can do either, it makes no difference
5. (Original post by AZ98)
Can you please explain how to get 0 for q5iii) and iv ? i got a negative acceleration :/

Posted from TSR Mobile
I think you have done it nearly right but you have to remember that the friction will only act against the force so it cant be more than the component of 1.2N so a = 0 if that makes any sense? The other two situations only bring about an acceleration because the friction limit is less than the component of the 1.2N force
6. What would 50/72 be as a grade and UMS mark?

Also, would I get method marks if I've done the correct method but with the wrong values??
7. (Original post by ChoccyPhilly)

as long as the angle was above the horizontal, it does not matter
8. My solutions:

Xsanda's solutions:

Falling question
1i) v=28 [2]
1ii) s=6.384 [2]
1iii) t=0.598 [3]

Collision question
2i) u=6 [4]
2ii) m=0.2 [4]

Cycling question
3i) 20km, 5hrs [3]
3ii) 7 hrs [3]
3iii) 50km [2]

110° tick
4i) 9.74N, 35.4° [6]
4ii) 10.3N [1]
4iii) 54.6° [2]

θ force
5i) 1.04 [3]
5ii) 1.06 [3]
5iii) a=0 [3]
5iv) a=0 [2]

Coalescing
6i) v=68 [4]
6ii) s=78 [4]
6iii) k=132 [1]
6iv) v=7 [5]

Prism
7i) a=0.7 (show that), T=1.68 [5]
7ii) v=1.26 [2]
7iii) -a = 0.9 [2]
7iva) T=1.2 [3]
7ivb) Fr = 1.12 [3]
9. for question 6II how u get 78?
i got 72 coz i thought displacement= 2t^2+2t^3
so at t=3 displacement =72?

Displacement is 2t^3 + 2t^2 + 2t because you integrate velocity which was 6t^2 + 4t + 2.

Therefore when t=3 s=78

there was 2t aswell because in velocity equation C was 2

I think its because you've missed the integration constant if Im thinking of the right question

14. What do people think you will need for 100 ums???
15. (Original post by xsanda)
My solutions:
What do you think method marks for 7biv will be for? and For Q4ai I didn't do the cosine method but i got right answer... will that method be accepted? For 5iii and iv will i lose all the marks for getting a negative acceleration?
16. (Original post by littleman72)

71 is average, probably no less than 71 considering it was an easier paper
17. (Original post by xsanda)
My solutions:
how did you come up with 10.3?
18. I got no marks on Q4, lost 9 marks. So annoyed, was getting at least 80+ UMS on every past paper I did. Think I've got a C in this one which really does suck.
19. (Original post by xsanda)
My solutions:
those all match up with mine except 7ivb)
i got 0.4 so im guessing i went wrong somewhere

i also didnt get 4ii) or iii) so I guess thats 66/72 which imo is pretty good
how did you come up with 10.3?
20-9.74 got me 10.3 (3SF)
