It really shows the difference in ambition/willingness, that City have now signed Jovetic AND Negredo, on top of already having Dzeko and flippin Aguero!

When we were linked with Jovetic and Higuain, and some people said why not both?', (and I believe both were realistic targets that we could have signed by now if the board/wenger actually wanted them) most people laughed or got worried, oh what will giroud do, the poor fellow?'
They bought jovetic and negredo to replace tevez and ballotelli who I would say are better anyway. Didn't City buy negredo for around the same price they sold balotelli? So they've basically replaced a 22 year old striker who will probably become one of the best in the world with a 28 year old who is pretty meh from what I've seen of him.

He plays as a left winger - reminds me of Overmars a little. I think he'll offer us a lot more than Podolski does in that position. Either that or we can put him behind the strikers I think. Hope it's true though.

seems like a very wise purchase with podolski not exactly young, - and little other quality options..

    fingers crossed!

Rumours on Twitter that we've agreed a £21m fee for Bernard.

I'll believe it when I see it on Arsenal.com
I hope this is bull****. 20 million on him and 40 million on a striker would leave 10 million for everything else. I doubt this is enough for a top class cdm which is more important.

Where have you been man? Welcome back! Looking forward to the coming season? Norwich have been doing pretty well in the market as well!
Idk I just kinda forgot about tsr haha It's been like 2 years or something haha. I was very much looking forward to it then I noted we are less than a month away from starting and yet to make a signing. But yeah at least Norwich are keeping things exciting. They've done a great job, and Alderweireld would be the icing on the cake, not sure if that's going through though. The one thing they were lacking last year was attacking potency though so it's fantastic to see them bringing in a strike force.

    How have things been?

I personally think £40m is a complete waste on Suarez. We could do a lot better with that money imo. That's not to say I won't have him, but I wouldn't be over the moon at seeing us fork out £40m for him.

We could probably get Jovetic AND Higuain for just over that. Or a combination of positions, i.e Higuain + Gundongan or Jovetic + Barry

I just don't think he's worth that much cash, for the trouble he brings with him and his reputation. I personally despise him as a footballer too which may warp my opinion on the matter.

EDIT: This is assuming Jovetic hasn't agreed with man city yet

it would seem he has which is a huge dissapointment, as he seemed pretty perfect for arsenal..

Higuain + gundongan would just be to good to be true probably need around 50-55m - but it would just be amazing..

Wenger isnt stupid though - im sure he wouldnt bid 40m on suarez if he didnt have plans for the other positions *hopefully*

Whether they were replacements or not doesn't really alter my point though.

As for Bernard, I've said it before but; I've watched him pretty regularly in the last couple of years. He has a lot of potential to be a very good player. A lot of pace and skill. He is, however, very small/light which could be a problem in the prem, and he is untested against any really good opposition. For 10mil he would be worth a punt. For 20mil I would feel like we are taking a very big risk (although it's one that could pay off, you never know)

I think wenger will use giroud and get one key signing for DM I doubt higuain will be at arsenal unless they already got him
Mm, or just one key signing at AM, I wouldn't be too surprised. :p: And it wouldn't really be the end of the world, to be honest. What we need is a spark up front, whether that comes from a striker or an attacking midfielder (or a defensive midfielder who would free up Arteta/Wilshere a bit more). I still think Jovetic would have been the perfect player, but it looks like that ship has sailed.

Anything reliable? I don't know much about him. :holmes:

Interesting. :holmes: Also, to the bolded part - the video below says he's 162cm and 57kg - really? :zomg: Although to be fair, he does do some wonderful things in that video as well.

Are you planning to stay now you're back? :awesome: The signings should come. Someone posted an interview with Wenger a couple of weeks ago where he said there was likely to be more movement towards the middle and end of July, so I wouldn't be too worried just yet. All the signs seem to point to a signing coming soon (although the options available have admittedly been chipped away a bit in the past week or so :o:). Are Norwich really after Alderweireld? Last I heard it was Arsenal, Spurs and then Roma who were most strongly linked to him! He'd be another pretty significant coup. :p:

Things have been pretty well with me thanks. :yep:

    suarez isn't coming lol

we heard the same about Gotze last year

    and Mata the year before

Wenger put in a huge 30m + bid for good players then to show ambition, then turns out its all talk no action

when all the good players are gone he turns round daying there were no good options and not enough time and he we end up with a host of average washed up players from top clubs and take them on loan
Agreed, For a few days I actually thought things were different.

Can't find any good sources for the Bernard story and it is basically the first I've heard of it so I would say it is pretty farfetched. ON the list of things we need a Brazilian pygmy for 20m must be about 30th

Yeah, he really is small and fragile. In Brazil people call him Ben 10; the name of a young kid cartoon character that he looks like.

He's also been linked with spurs and liverpool both without much foundation. I have a feeling his agent is trying to stir up a move to Europe.

Seems to have stemmed from an ESPN Brazil reporter. I wouldn't get to excited about it to be honest, although it's not the first time I've seen us linked to him in the past week or so.

I'd love him here he may be 30 or so but is a top class player and a WINNER
But he'd probably have very high wage demands, reckon we have more chance of Suarez!
