    Giroud out for 6 weeks.

If Wenger doesn't buy a striker now...
He's not going to buy a striker, he has stated we're only looking at defensive options.

Arsene also thinks Giroud can be this 25+ goal striker we need.

25 at most is possible in all comps

Don't know how possible with this injury however

We need a striker more so than any other position. Giroud is not the kind of player to get 25 goals in the PL.

He's not clinical enough to lead the line on his own, simple as that. Giroud is a pretty decent striker for a top side but not as their first and only choice.

Look at our squads throughout the past 20 years, when have we ever had so few quality options in our strikeforce? We have always had a quality striker to get us over the line and a couple of good supporting options. We have shifted into a defensively solid team, big away games were down to a lack of tactical discipline on Arsene's behalf, ever since Robin left.

We need a holding midfielder more so than a striker to be fair. A top quality striker is desperately needed too though so our attack has a different dynamic and we're not overly reliant on individuals.

Off topic, but were you ever on a forum called The Playmaker?

Strikers win you leagues. Not denying that we don't need a holding midfielder, it is also a very important position to address, however a world class striker takes this team to another level. Ideally, we need a ST, DM and a CB though.

    And no mate.

    1. It's an ankle injury
    2. A broken leg does not take 3 months to heal

Pretty fair, if he's not worth £85k, he probably not good enough for you to sign.

Is there any news on Giroud? He seems pretty important atm with Sanogo out too.

We will get another striker I reckon now that giroud and sanogo are out. Still think other targets are still on the list too but that's being hopeful tbh

We, a team who has aspirations to win the league, don't even have a fit striker. Amazing really.

Yeah but he was supposed to have a scan today to give a more accurate prediction.

    I don't see it happening

It's only weeks. Wenger will rely on Sanchez Walcott and Campbell IMO (though id rather get a striker)

Foot, ankle, leg - same result - you have no striker.

    (excl. Sanogo.)

Campbell, Sanchez, Walcott (possibly podolski if he hasn't been sold)

that will be what Wenger says when he's asked about fit strikers...

It's incompetence if it doesn't happen really, no one of good quality to price ratio is available anymore. I don't think wenger trusts Campbell at all, so really we have Sanchez up top only. Hopefully wenger knows that's just a stupid idea by going in to a season like that.

I'm basing this on giroud being out long term, if he's out for less than a week then he won't buy anyone.

    Source?

He isn't going to buy a striker because he thinks he needs to fill 6 weeks btw]
He's out for 3 months according to the Telegraph. I don't see you signing a replacement, simply because there is nobody available. Mandzukic, Costa & Balotelli have all moved, Remy wouldn't pass a medical, Falcao is Real Madrid bound, Cavani won't be sold now Zlatan is injured and they've missed out on Di Maria. Who does that even leave?

Funnily enough Welbeck or Hernandez would be perfect for Arsenal. Both of them are seemingly available for transfer, there's no chance we'd sell either of them to you after the Vermaelen saga though.

That telegraph article cites no decent sources...there has been no mention of a broken ankle by Wenger or anyone to do with the club.

I doubt we'd buy a striker if Giroud was out for 12 months tbh.
