I did some induction tests in each of my subjects (apart from German because there isn't one).

    Maths: E
    Sociology: C
Psychology: B (but my teacher reckons I would have got an A if I actually finished )

Not looking good at the moment.. Especially Maths. -.-

There was two halves to the test.. Aced the first half, and only got 1 mark on the second half... Luckily I didn't get kicked off the course... I got the 3rd lowest in my class though.

Anyway; Have any of you guys managed to balance your work and social life/other activities/etc yet? Because I'm really struggling... I'm doing so much work - which I don't mind doing - but I'm just so tired on weekends, and I don't want to do anything at all...

I rushed a psychology homework (I got 2/8 marks) and I got put on subject report :nooo:
Apparently it's called 'catching it early' so that I don't end up with a U at the end of the year. It was ONE question:facepalm:

    My report 'aims'
    - To complete work to the best of my ability
    - To participate more in class (I'm on report because I'm quiet. Wat)

That sounds moronic I got 3/8 on a psychology quiz and we identified where I went wrong, then said nothing more about it

Is there anyone who has signed up (or has already done) the medlink course at Nottingham Uni?
I'm not sure if I should go or not. Is it worth it for the price it costs?

How fortunate of you to have a good teacher, some of us aren't that lucky:cry: Another one on AQA, I feel like such an outcast on WJEC.

Oh my no, not a good teacher. I have two teachers, one of them is good, one of them is the teacher who gave us a quiz :mmm:

Holding a vote for us, we are currently in anarchy, and the peasants don't like that.

Bear in mind that Economics A-level is nothing like Economics at university, there's almost as much (maybe even more) Math in the degree as there is in the Comp Sci degree! I'm leaning more towards Economics instead of Electrical Engineering/Comp Sci, though if I get into an American university I'll do both.

Are you still trying for internships next year? If you are, could you please PM/Facebook me about them. I assume you are not applying for the 6 week residential Wharton summer program, are you?
I don't mind maths at all. Just the Mechanics modules I'm finding tricky atm.

Any time religion is EVER brought up in my class, people immediately look to see my reaction, as though my head will somehow boil at the mention of it

I'm probably just misinterpreting, but it seems like everybody seems to know the details of their courses (we've not looked at Mechanics, only Statistics :shakecane:). It worries me, probably unnecessarily
Stats. :awesome: It's just more interesting imho.

No way Mechanics rocks! Best part of A Level Maths in my opinion
    :hand:

FP1 and S1 are my joint favourites at the moment.

I had 2 physics tests, one was 3/38 because I forgot rotations stuff. The other I haven't got the result but should be about 20.

I have 2 math tests on Mon and tues and I'm dreading it, I have had barely anytime to revise and I still have homework to do, I have to get at least 40% to not get killed, arghh there just isn't enough time in the day, and I also need to redo my first physics test, possibly on tues as well.

Really? Stanford is my favourite school as well, hopefully he's the exception and not the norm. I'm guessing you're applying to American Universities as well? Do you have any in mind?

I'm going to next year's college day, hopefully. How did you find it? Did you talk to any universities in particular?
Yep me and my family are moving to America after my A levels so I will be going to University there. I think it was just him, I asked a question about employers visiting the school and he entered a slowly increasing manic laugh and said EVERYONE gets a job if they are from Stanford, also words to the effect that nothing can touch Stanford, they are the best, everything else is utter rubbish and he kept plugging their famous alumni such as Google's Sergy Brin.

MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine and university of Florida are the main ones that I entertained, I'm interested in doing Computer Science as of now

Well it was okay, there was a seminar on the application process which was useful, however the majority can be found out on the internet. It’s nice to have physical contact with people from the Universities rather than feeling so distant however when I got there I felt a bit clueless on what to actually do/ask.

What are you interested in doing at University/College?

I don't have this problem so much, because the only social life I have is on the internet... but I also haven't felt that there's too much work yet. There's a lot, but it's perfectly manageable, and I have some spare time so if I wanted to do something like socialising I could. Do you have a job? I know most of my friends with jobs are struggling to fit in a social life between schoolwork and job work, so if that's the case maybe you should see if you can work fewer hours. If you don't - I'm not really sure what to suggest. How much revision you are doing? At this stage, you don't need to do more than a couple of hours, so if you're doing more than that you can cut down.

There's a thread about this in the Medicine forum I think, maybe someone else could link you in... but the gist of it is that it's overpriced and not that useful. But if you think it would be beneficial to you and can afford it, then that's your own decision it probably helps some people more than others.

Anybody applying to the Nuffield Foundation for research placements next year? :holmes:
I want to, but I'm on holiday.
Sad face (although I love going on holiday)

Sixth form is going okay so far, finding it a little challenge to keep up with work though, I'm doing maths, physics, further maths. Biology and chemistry, and every time I finish one piece of work, more comes
    Enjoying it overall though

    Nah I don't have a job.

I think it's because I did nothing at all at GCSE.. whereas I'm actually working now, so it's tiring me out.. I'm not used to it.
