I find going to lectures helpful. This is why I'm in Algebraic Topology rather than on TSR.

Silly question, but how can you be in a abstract concept?

Don't you have ***** with laptops in your lectures? There was once a girl in front of me watching Saturday Kitchen on iPlayer instead of taking notes, so I kicked the back of her chair all the way through the lecture.

I am primarily a nice person, but I am pretty sick of revision. And I don't think I'm a **** for torturing people who watch iPlayer in lectures... just stay at home and don't distract the rest of us. I don't mind people using laptops if they have maths-related stuff on there but otherwise it's just stupid.

some idiot was taking notes in a euclidean geometry lecture on his laptop. he was on powerpoint, and used the circle, triangle and line tools to construct the diagrams from the board. it took him at least 3 or 4 times longer to copy each diagram than the rest of us, let alone the time to create all the necessary text boxes to label points, intersections etc.. yet he persevered, clacking his ****ty keyboard the whole way through the lecture. and when the lecturer stopped drawing/writing, that was his "catchup" time because of how slow he was, meaning there was literally non stop typing the entire time.

how can you be arsed

Kicking a girl in the back of her chair for an hour because she's watching moving images? Your right, you sound like a catch - **** me I think you've turned me.

If the girl was a 200 lb man you don't strike me as someone who would react similarly.

I hate people like you. At my old town I saw it every day - guys who are 'hard' because they're doing something to a girl, minding her own business, and won't fight back but watch them piss themselves when they see another man do the same thing.

I expected that there, but at University? No.

Try me? This wasn't anything to do with her being a girl, this was to do with her specifically NOT minding her own business (because I, and the people around me were distracted by her lunking great ****ing laptop with moving images). I was hoping she'd get the hint but some people just don't get it.

Yeah, for sure what I did was pretty childish, but inconsiderate people annoy me much more than people who are just stupid. If she'd been watching iPlayer on something small like a phone then it wouldn't have bothered me, because it would have been out of my sight line.

A 200lb man would not scare me.

That depends on the concept. For example, you're always in a klein bottle.

Totally messed up the exams. Could do the maths and most of the concept questions. But, as soon as it mentions stuff like calculate the kinetic energy of a electron with 1 ev. Couldn't do it, even through I've been told how to do it.

So all the theory I got down nicely, but man should have done stats.

Had the best algebra exam ever. The proofs where so weird that only someone with no life could possibly remeber how to do the proofs. Sadly, I have no life.

But, the lecturer is a genius and German. Saying that he tricked quite a few students into learning four specific proofs by lying that he gave hints last year about what proofs will be in the exam(note they didn't come up in the exam). That is genius if I ever become a lecturer I would have to do that.

P.S. On a side note, what's everyone eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner e.tc.? as my diet is currently super noodles and rice.

Undoubtedly, the lecturer to whom you refer is Prof. S (unless there have been staff changes at Manchester).

He was my favourite lecturer from Manchester; a great lecturer and also a very nice guy. He is also very funny - probably the only courses I did at Manchester that I attended every lecture were his courses and a course on smooth manifolds.

I remember one lecture course we did, the room was always used just before for a numerical analysis course and when any remnants were left on the board he always stared at it before saying "We must remove this pornography!"

The lecture is in the middle of three in a row. The lecturer is very very dull, and the lectures are literally worthless. He has a subset of his notes (available online) on a power point presentation, and talks at us for an hour. What's the point? The course doesn't seem too hard from the examples I've looked at, I have a difficult course straight afterwards that I'd like to be awake for and if I actually bothered attending, I wouldn't be writing anything down so wouldn't pay attention and his voice would send me to sleep.
Three in a row sounds pretty good to me... Durham seems to like its four/five hour blocks.

I went on a bar crawl with my coursemate the other night - you know, one of those coursemates who you sit next to in every lecture and hang out in the library nerding it up between tutorials and steal notes from?

And it was a great drunken night until, totally out of the blue, he asks: "have you ever thought about having sex with me?"

o. O

So lectures are pretty effing awkward for me right now. Also this isn't really spam because it is Maths Uni-related.

Just do what all girls do and say they were too drunk to remember what happened...
