Leave talk about optimism but it's about what's realistic. I can optimistically walk into a company and ask for a job ; doesn't mean I'll get it.

Had to turn the debate off - couldn't stand smug Sadiq Khan or Ruth, who looks like she's been chewing a wasp during most of the debate. The big I could watch confirmed my decision to vote Leave, though to be fair, that's been fixed for quite a while now.

A lot of leave ( not all I know ) do want to largely curb immigration ; immigration not just from the EU which makes many wonder what non-EU immigration has to do with the EU.

I really cannot stand Khan, he comes across incredibly smug and self-entitled. The two leave people, excluding Boris, were quite good - as is Ruth on the other side.

I'd imagine it is so they have backup feeds should one mic fail.

Leave still going on about Turkey. Despite the fact there is next to zero chance they will join.

So what you're saying is that because one side of immigration can be controlled means that we shouldn't control the other side.

In order to counter the narrative I'd like to say that Mr Khan is smashing it.

If there was zero chance of Turkey joining Cameron should not refuse to rule out vetoing Turkey's membership, supporting Turkey to join should not be the British government's official policy, and British taxpayers should not be funding £2bn a year to get Turkey ready for joining; it is a lie Turkey will not join the EU.

So why are we pouring money into helping them join? Or how about this one: why was Cameron incapable of saying he would veto Turkish membership if he were PM when they do join? For a country that's not joining we seem to be trying real hard to get them in.

All 28 countries have a veto. We will use it, so will Germany and others.
Turkey are not joining, it's a lie that they are and you know it.

"EU immigration is uncontrollable" - not entirely... EU citizens are allowed in the UK until they become a become a burden on the state so they can only come if they have a job or are likely to get a job...

"We discriminate against the rest of the world" well if we left we'd be discrimination against more of the EU.

    He did say it.
They are not joining any time soon.

In several decades of Turkey has changed, become more democratic and has a better economy (withdrawing the push factors away) then why not.
They are not joining any time spooning and perhaps never.

But that's not their rhetoric, they've been forming the argument as to suggest the EU is the sole ' problem ' and to leave is the ' solution '.

Regardless, if we were to continue to trade freely with the single market which seems probable with a pro-eu Commons, then we would be subject to the same freedom of movement as present. On a broad level we could curb EU immigration but it seems contextually unlikely.
