# Edexcel AS Mathematics C2- 25th May 2016 Thread Watch

1. could someone go through the log question for me? it was log3(3b+1)-log3(a-2)=-1
2. Log3(3b+1)-log3(a-2)=log3(1/3)
Log3(3b+1/a-2)=log3(1/3)
3b+1/a-2=1/3
3b+1=(a-2)/3
3b=((a-2)/3)-1
b=((a-2)/9) - 1/3
3. Think that's right
4. SOMEONE HELP FOR THE LOGS PART B

I SEPARATED THE 2^2X+5 TO (2^X)2+5 -7(2^X) AND MADE Y=2^X

FROM THERE I GOT Y^7-7y=0 AND SOLVED FROM THERE WILL I LOSE ALL MARKS????
5. Yeah I think so. 2^2x+5 is the same as
2^2x • 2^5. So you get 32y^2 -7y=0 I think which let to x = -2.19

could someone go through the log question for me? it was log3(3b+1)-log3(a-2)=-1
log3(3b + 1/a - 2) = - 1
3^-1 = (3b + 1)/(a - 2)
(3b + 1)/(a - 2) = 1/3
3b + 1 = 1/3(a - 2)
3b + 1 = a/3 - 2/3
3b = a/3 - 5/3
b = (a - 5)/9

That's what I did
7. Think that's equal to what I got
8. (Original post by Steliata)
log3(3b + 1/a - 2) = - 1
3^-1 = (3b + 1)/(a - 2)
(3b + 1)/(a - 2) = 1/3
3b + 1 = 1/3(a - 2)
3b + 1 = a/3 - 2/3
3b = a/3 - 5/3
b = (a - 5)/9

That's what I did
Wow same, thank you I was stressing
9. Hey can anybody go through the trig identities question, it was 1-2cos(theta-PI/5) = 0 then ii) was 4cos^2x + 7sinx-2=0 i think for 0<=x<=360
10. UNOFFICIAL MARK SCHEMES!!

Looks like you did a terrible job, at making the Mark scheme official.

Looks like edexcel have still got to update their template and include examiner comments like they normally do once the results are in and make small adjustments where necessary

I'm in the same boat as you. I think I'll just convince my teachers that I can get an A* next year because they originally thought I would. It depends what you got on C1 and C2 but Stats generally is either a love it or hate it paper. I'd say really concentrate and normal
distribution and probability.
Vvs1 usually has a bunch of small questions which are linked together so you have to be extra careful because you won't be given follow through marks so if the first part is wrong then the second 3rd so on are most probably wrong too.

How did you get this?
17. (Original post by JackNiblett)
I got something like 28/6 and got like 4000 and something?? It still worked though, so what does this mean?
I don't even know anymore, that question ****ed me over. Its only 4 marks though so it shouldn't be that big of a deal
18. Did anyone else get P is 66? How are people getting 120?
19. how did people find the upper bound needed to find the area of s ?
