How does one become a Community Assistant?
By waiting for a suitable vacancy to be announced in the relevant forum, applying, being awesome (helps if you've been doing this before the vacancy comes up), and being chosen

Varies by section. In MHOC/MUN they're the speak, secretary general etc and need certain powers to carry out that role in terms of keeping things organised and running smoothly. In PS Help they're generally the first response to any new statements posted by applicants, check certain things etc to ensure it's fine for someone to review that statement, and do some thread labelling and sticking/unsticking etc that keeps the forum in our nice organised system. In unis and study help it's partly the same as that, and partly being someone who knows that part of the site and can help to foster a community there. So bit of a mixed bag really

Community Assistants support Moderators operating in a particularly ‘admin intensive’ area of the site.
They are responsible for keeping their specific forum area orderly, by moving posts, merging threads and tagging threads appropriately. Forum assistants are chosen either by the Members of TSR within a sub community of the site (in the case of the House of Commons and the Model UN) or by the Moderators (in the case of the Personal Statement Community Assistants) to perform an important auxiliary role.
