The Glaswegian/really Northern one is pretty disgusting. It's really harsh and very hard to understand. But then again, so are all strong accents ie. Dirty Manc accent.

I don't like strong scottish accents, prefer the soft burr to a more guttarel sound.

I will say that they always sound better on a girl though. Especially in Dundee.

Some scottish accents are ok but the blokes on Trawlermen have a bad one, especially when it has to be subtitled

You'd soon get annoyed with his tendency to exaggerate and shake his hands dramatically though.

*enters shop leaning forward slightly with hands moving up and down*

'Have you got any copies of the Scotsman left?'
'No I'm afraid we just sold the last one'

*turns away and looks at you, shaking his hands*

(raising his voice) 'The world had turned!'

etc

When people say they like the scots accent you can be fairly certain they've never heard a Dundonian for example
These days, Scotland exists between the border and the top of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Unfortunately.

I think it's quite refreshing to hear blends of different Scottish dialects. It's a nice kind of mini melting pot system and you can get some nice spin on the typical ones.
