I think it was 2,3 and 10,11 because the element has 13 electrons and they only showed the IE for 11, so you had to work it out, hated the whole paper tbh..
I wrote that too

Alot worse ... i didnt even know how to explain what an orbital was lol
I put "a region which contains 2 electrons with opposite spins" although I think thats the deffinition for atomic orbital. Maybe it was "a region with a high probability of finding an electron"... I'm not sure

What did everyone get on the volume of CO2 produced?
I think i got 0.4ish dm3 not too sure if it was right though!

did mass of CaCO3 divided by molar mass and multiplied by 24. I think it was less than one dm^3 but I'm couldn't confirm it!
Same ... i think i got 4.8 ... something like that

If they make unit 2 as tricky as unit 1, im doomed

Unit 2 I find much harder ... all the types of reactions and the damn mechanisms and reagents ...

I lost marks for sayin as u go down the groups the carbonate becomes more reactive and for sayin it was SO4(2-) in stead of sayin HSO4(-) and funny thing is, i wrote it but i crossed out the H cos i thot it was wrong
The wierd calculation one, did anyone get 98.4% ?
Ohh and for the polar molecule i said F was more electronegative than N and that the shape is not symmertrical so the dipoles dont cancel out? Not sure about dat :/

Yeah I got 120 degrees Trigonal Planar. I think you have to state the obvious initially; that it has 3 bonded pairs and no lone pairs, then go on to say how three bonded pairs cause equal repulsion around the B atom.

I didn't find it as hard as I feared, considering resits are apparently harder to get higher marks on. I completely failed the % question, but the ionic/covalent/atomic radii questions I thought were pretty fair

I got an E first time round so hopefully it won't be too hard beating that now

Now just mod 2 to go

Hopefully I've got an A, but I really need a high A because I find all the other units really difficult! I thought it was a horrible paper, tbh. I hope the grade boundaries are low!

That's it, seems like an easy question for 4 marks, which is why I crossed out my answer and went for pyramidal
I was so mad at myself for doing the exact same thing I put trigonal down and crossed it after like "oh that cant be right!" :eek3:

It's my very first paper so I'm probably going to resit it next year.

Did you have to draw the trigonal planar structure of BF3 to get the mark?
Thats what my friend told me and i didn't do it!

this exam was by far the easiest Unit 1 they have set. what did ppl get for:

"state all the ionisation numbers that occur from the s-subshells in Al"

i wrote 2nd, 3rd, 10th and 11th

what did ppl get for the percentage purity by mass? i got 98.5% or summin like that cuz the original volume was 250cm3 and the guy sampled 25cm3 so i timed my answer (9.85) by 10
