I am a feminist.

I do not want to be a feminist - but that is because no feminist wants to be a feminist - we're fighting for a world in which we don't have to exist because women are treated fairly.

I don't believe women are better than men
I don't burn lads magazines and run around with hairy legs screaming "**** you heff"
and I don't accept the excuse for things "ah well men/women are ***** aren't they?" because in the end we're almost exactly the same.

The definition is hard for me to get, cause it varies so much.

I hate a lot of things- like when we studied feminist beliefs about relationships in Year 12, I was like WTF...

There was all this stuff about 'women and men should be separate because women have been barinwashed in to submitting to men' 'even if they think they want sex with a man, they are subliminally brainwashed so can't choose to have sex, ever'. When I see this kind of thing I think it's a load of... rubbish

However, I do like equality. Of course, there are some stereotypes which are accurate, ie. some thing which one sex is usually better at. I accept this, but don't think that people shouldn't be able to go against the grain if they wish to, just because of the pre-judgement.

It's a hard area too- I watched a show about young women not being employed because the employers were worried they'd run off and have kids. This is unfair. Many women don't want to have kids, and even if they do they need money. However, it was destroying small businesses when they had to give paid maternity leave to people and employ someone else. So I can see why they did it.

I believe in gender equality

Most people who describe themselves as feminists, and hold strong veiws, usually base it off of unjustified prejudice against men and the belief women are perfect and can do no wrong. They also make massive mountains out of tiny molehills, and seem to want to be offended by everything. They don't care about equality between the genders, they only care about things where women are effected, which leads to a lot of double standards.
