    I don't see any reason to drink alcohol. I don't like the way people are when they're drunk. Just can't see any good things coming from it.

    Going out and chatting to new people is more difficult when your sober and forcing yourself to do it is brilliant for your confidence, social skills etc. That was probably the best bit.

    Because it tastes like crap, and I don't need it to have a good time.
    Someone negged me for this...

    Don't like the taste, there are plenty of other drinks which are far nicer.

    I like to drink, but there's no need to jump conclusions about people who don't.

    I'm disappointed that so many people equate drinking with getting drunk.

    You know you can just have a couple of drinks and stop there. Alcohol doesn't exist for the sole purpose of making an idiot of yourself on a Friday.

    Everything in moderation. Beers and wines are actually good for you in moderation.

    Don't see the point in it. Getting drunk =/= my idea of fun and it tastes God awful. I think the losers in high school who started drinking and partying just to look "cool" put me off the most, though - I did my utmost to be nothing like them.

    Also, I don't really want to go out and pay a ridiculous amount of money for what will be pretty much just an expensive hangover and embarrassing photos on FB the next morning.
    I don't have a problem with people relaxing with a drink at home or just socialising, though. Personally, I just don't enjoy it.

    How about "I don't want to?"

    But, since you ask:

    -I don't like the taste and don't see the point of drinking something I don't like in order to get drunk.
    -I hate throwing up.
    -I like being fit and in shape and drinking WILL affect that.
    -I don't like the smell of people who are/have been drinking.
    -I could use the money on better things.
    -I like being in control of my thoughts and actions.
    -I don't feel I need it to have a good time.
    -I prefer lemonade. Or water.
    -I just don't see the point.

    So there's a bunch of reasons. Pick your favourite.

    Oh, and by the way, I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING against people who drink. It's just not something that I've chosen to do.

    - empty calories
    - ££££ (I decided to have a sober night on friday and didn't spend a penny, but still had a night out = seems like a bit of a win to me!)
    - generally feeling awful
    - i'd prefer a happy liver

    all reasons why i'm thinking of just stopping completely

    Because the taste is disgusting, it is utterly useless and filled with empty calories... no thank you.

    ^^ basically the same as this... dont like to waste thousands of calories on it, be out of control, sink loads of cash, feel awful the next day, tastes disgusting, plus prefer to have healthy skin and internal organs

    I don't like it. Plus I can't afford to.

    It's expensive, it's bad for your liver and your brain.. but mostly I cba with it. If I really enjoyed it, I would, despite the above reasons.

    I'm an insane lightweight as well. 2 ciders? Time to start stripping/revealing personal secrets/saying embarrassing things to people I don't want to say embarrassing things to, such as teachers.

    I have a housemate who thinks that there must be a big personal reason for me not drinking. He can't seem to comprehend that I might not drink for the same reasons as why I don't eat marmite or watch rom coms. Personal preference.

    I'm horrendously lightweight and feel a bit 'out of it' just after drinking a tiny shot. :nothing: It doesn't even taste that good and gives me bad stomach aches. :nopity: And I've had a horrible experience with whiskey in the past, so :puke:

    This. Exactly this, just substitute 'whiskey' for alcohol in general.

    That and i'm not overly keen on the taste of most, tried a lot of things. I like expensive champagne, cheap Lambrini, brandy, wkd, haha. Can't stand vodka.

    As a general rule, it isn't the people who do drink that do it to look cool. It's the people that don't drink.

    Fair enough if you have an allergy, but there is no other logical reason not to enjoy a nice pint of beer/glass of wine every now and then.
    It's good for your health, it doesn't get you drunk, and it helps you relax after a long day. You also don't look quite so self obsessed and smug.

    Why deliberately deprive yourself of one of life's pleasures - just so you can feel superior to your friends? It's like refusing to listen to music because it "damages your hearing", and sneering at those that do.

    :hmmm: Roughly in order of priority:
    • It doesn't smell or taste nice (to the point of making me retch);
    • I can have fun perfectly well without getting drunk;
    • I don't want my 'social character' to be dependent upon alcohol, for people to like me based upon how I act when my mind is elsewhere and the drink is in charge;
    • Drunkenness in itself is quite a scary concept if you consider possible consequences: loss of memory of events, loss of coordination to the point of collapse, health issues, et cetera;

    ...and so on.
