while men want a good gal with good looks...nothin else matters...!!
We can't go against our instincts! Men are unfairly biased with beauty, but so are women with wealth and power. So we're even

I've never seen a beautiful woman complain that men were irrational in their choice of a partner.

For me personally, looks are very important. I'd say about 50:50 really.

Their BF's are rich and one of them is from SuperTroopers.
Right, because they were all penniless before they got married. Somehow I don't think Jennifer Lopez was too worried about money when she was looking for a husband.

It depends on what your definition of ugly is. You see, I believe and so do many scientists that the most attractive quality to a female is height. Specifically, the man has to be 5'10'' or above. So although you may see women with ugly guys, they will all probably be 6ft+ tall and the woman will probably be 5'3'' or less.
I'm not saying women don't go for looks, just that men do as well. It's unfair, because when guys go for looks (understandable, may I add) it's just 'human nature', when girls do, it's because we are all 'shallow *****es out of touch with reality'.

I'll get negged for this but im going to honest.

For me looks are very important and then build, then confidence, in terms of attractiveness.
Although with a boyfriend it probably goes: Looks, personality, build.
It doesn't mean that if one person doesn't find you 'good looking' that no girl will ever go out with you though.
what build do u like ?

LOL I knew loads of guys were going to come and whinge about how shallow we are.

Anyway OP, to answer your question - EVERYONE notices looks first. Male or female, being attracted to looks is not exclusive to women. Men know this, yet they continue to have this warped idea that we are out of touch with reality. If anyone is out of touch with reality it's those who have somehow not noticed the fact that there are far more ugly guys with attractive girls than vice versa. Funny that.
The explanation for that is rather simple. Girls do not ask guys out, really. Ugly guy out of desperation takes a shot at hot girl and because she doesn't get much attention (due to the intimidation she causes to other guys) she takes interest in this guy and thus they date.

On the other hand, an ugly girl never really makes a move on a hot guy because girls don't ask guys out to begin with.

You know, I think a guy who is average looking, but with a great personality will always be more attractive than a great looking guy with an average personality. I'd always pick the personality guy over the looks guy.
My sixth form is really tiny, so you get to know everyone without making much of an effort to, meaning I end up fancying my guy friends that I know to have amazing personalities, and I know the personality failures of some of the fit ones. That helps.

    No... just no.
ORLY? How is what I posted any different to the sweeping generalisation (that I quoted) about women all going for status, height, etc?

There has to be at least some physical attraction. But he doesn't have to look like freaking Adonis. A great personality makes someone a hundred times more attractive.
Men go for looks as well, I don't see the problem here. Does being a girl and thinking physical attractiveness matters a little, makes one a "shallow *****?".. Because this forum seems to be full
of bitter guys who think like that.

I can see that being true. :yep:

    (Original post by Bakerzoid)
Because what you said isn't true in the slightest.
And neither is what xfactorfan said.

And the fact that all women are status-chasers who like tall men is?! Please now.

Are you saying that men don't like:
    Big boobs
    Megan Fox
    Slim and curvy girls
    Emma Watson
    Long legs

?? Can't really fathom that. Its pretty easy to see that there are plenty of guys around who like some/all of these things...just look around these forums, the internet in general, or life. Just as there are plenty of girls who fantasise about status and height.

That doesn't really make either of those offerings a sufficient model for 'what girls look for in a guy' or vice versa, though. As I made clear in my original post, I was mocking the absurdity of the level of over-generalisation!

Not really. On this forum, say anything about females and the replies are always "Nuh uh, men are worse!!!!'

I actually think physical attractiveness means more to guys than girls. I definitely wouldn't date an ugly girl even if she had the personality of Jesus.

Isn't this pretty much the same as guys though? Hey, if we're going to generalise what an entire gender looks for in the opposite sex: guys want the slim-but-curvy, girl with big boobs and great legs that go on forever who looks great in slutty little dresses but looks just as good in jeans and a tshirt...who somehow manages to combine the porn-star-esque looks of Megan Fox with the girl-next-door looks of Emma Watson.

Then realities come crashing down on them in their mid twenties when they realise that they're forced into going for 'normal' girls and not this unrealistic little fantasy woman that they've yearned to meet and fvck.

thats not what guys want though. ask any guy and he'll prefer a normal girl. an attractive one, yes, that goes without saying.

I've never seen that. I always see constant whining about women, generalizations and gender stereotypes all over the place. I've seen very few thread about men, but again. Haven't been here for that long.

Physical attractiveness matters, but it's not everything. A very average guy can be a hundred times more attractive because of his personality.

So what makes you think that women want a man with status etc as outlined in your post, rather than a 'normal' guy...? I for one couldn't give a flying f*ck whether or not a man is:

    (Original post by xfactorfan)
the tallest, most handsome, most confident, most popular, most famous, nicest, most dominant, richest guy imaginable.
    .
And I don't fantasise about celebrities constantly, either. Just Johnny Depp. And Jessica Alba.

    lets put it this way:

whenever a male celebrity who girls deem attractive goes out on the red carpet/goes on x factor/goes for an interview or whatever, you hear hundreds of girls screaming.

the justin bieber interview with graham norton on saturday was the epitome of it. thousands of girls with banners and posters, screaming and getting all excited over a 16 year old boy.

now if someone like Cheryl Cole or another female celebrity was there, you wouldn't hear guys cheering or going crazy over her. if anything, its the girls who will go crazy over them, because they want to be and look like them.
