It's interesting how they're going to have 4 wildcards next year instead of 2 in previous years. Who do you think will get the wildcards? One of them has to be Gary Anderson, and it would be nice to see Wayne Jones getting a go in the Premier League as well.
Anderson will get one. For the others I'm not sure actually - I'd like to see the Challenge Match come back - it was when Mardle was removed because of his virus, that means you can have loads of different players involved, still have three PL matches, but it also allows for other sorts of intense rivalries to be shown.

Anderson deserves one, I'm also thinking Webster should get one, for his recent exploits. If we can have a surprise semi-finalist/finalist here then they ought to get one. The thing it suggests though is that this event is moving away from the world rankings more.

Assuming Taylor, Wade, Barney and Whitlock take the top 4 order of merit places, I'd personally go with Anderson, Lewis, Baxter and Wayne Jones. For me, Jones, has been one of the most impressive players on the circuit this year.

Baxter vs Webster is by far the pick of the round, with Webster playing very well at the moment. It's also interesting how the world number 25 is 1/2 to beat the world number 8, but Webster is a lot better than his ranking would suggest. Mervyn King had a solid performance last night, without doing anything special, so it looks like he could do some damage in the tournament.

That Wayne Jones and Van Der Voort should be a good one as well

Indeed, Vincent is one of those players who's good enough to make a mark in the tournament, he's been in the quarter-finals of Lakeside before and Wayne wants to keep up the run of form.

Webster has just knocked Baxter out and Nicholson is in bother against Peter Wright, the crowd are on Nicholson's back as well.

Nicholson is letting the crowd affect him - if he'd hit those doubles to win the set 1-0 he'd have

The thing is that if Paul loses he'll use the crowd as his excuse - and yes the crowd's behaviour has been shocking but Paul only gets angry at it if he loses. The crowd were the same in the Players Championships - that he won, the crowd were not as bad of a sudden. - It annoys me who picks the crowd as the excuse, it never really endears himself to them anyway. He's been woeful on the doubles and Wright is playing his own game is deservedly in front - as a further note, Nicholson's comments about England have not helped him at all whatsoever

Latest Flash: Nicholson 1 Sets 2 Wright 3-0 in legs

In another thing, 1 hour 4 minutes and just 12 legs done

Webster was brilliant in that match 12-6 in Legs it was and poor Ronnie did little wrong. I fancy Webster to make at least the quarter-finals now and depending on how Taylor plays, just a little bit further

Baxter really should have won the first 2 sets, and had darts to win a later set as well, so it should have been 3-1 to Baxter. He's always been a good scorer, but his doubles keep on letting him down.

Nicholson has also been shocking on his doubles so far, in complete contrast with his first round performance. The problem with Nicholson having this 'bad boy' character is that when he starts missing, they really start booing him and he gets frustrated. When he's playing well he takes it very well, but it does affect him when he's not.

Wright wins, playing steady darts - fair play to him

This will hurt Nicholson badly. He seemed to be recovering from his bad run after he won at Purfleet, but I think this will set him back even further.

Hamilton has been dumped out by Robert Thornton, hardly a vintage performance but at least Thornton could finish on the doubles. The Dart board puncher Colin Lloyd is being rattled by Mark Hylton.

Hylton's playing really well, hopefully he can keep it up.

Hamilton was woeful first three sets and by the time he found any sort of decent scoring he was too far behind. Thornton will get hammered in the third round unless he gets better however.

                Hylton 2-1 up

Since he'd be playing the winner of Dudbridge and Lewis, it's possible that Lewis could turn up and put in one of his 78 averages that he does occasionally, and Thornton could still win.

That was one of the best sets of darts I've ever seen anyone play. And to finish it with 318 in 6 darts.

Brilliant from Hylton, funny really, 4-2 in sets seems like a tight game which for most part it was. If it had been the World Matchplay the count was 16-9 in legs

That's two upsets he has done now, first he puts out former BDO champion Steve Beaton now he's took out Colin Lloyd.
