    Depends what you are doing. GPS apps certainly do work in the background properly on iOS. As I have said before, the iOS way of multitasking helps preserve battery life while doing nearly everything that a user could want.

    I can only thing of two things that other multitasking devices can do that iOS does not.
    1 - playing video in the background. Although that does depend on the app, and I believe VLC can do it.
    2 - Instant Messaging. Some apps use the 10 minute background task API to stay connected in the background if you are just quickly jumping to another app and then back. Otherwise you have push notifications, although they can be unreliable.
