    He didn't turn 101 today.
    I think he might have meant 'today' as just another word for the present, rather than trying to explicitly say that his birthday was actually today.

    Big great things, are triggered off by small noble acts...in this case a great act.

    Yes there are many people that are still suffering...but I don't view it as "fruitless" I try to perceive it to make it seem it is motivating, to make us get up and help...despite how fruitless is may seem...there is always hope.
