I think we should get rid of government bureacrats and entrepeneurs altogether and let the local folk of their own communities start running the local industry and trade that directly affects them.

Do we need more privatisation? Probably but I'm always inclined to be sceptical because of what happens when it goes wrong. For reference look at the "Commonwealth Development Corporation" privatised by Labour for a minimal fraction of its value. Originally designed to operate on a non profit basis, investing in agriculture in needy countries, particularly in Africa it has since privatisation become a vastly profitable company giving it's executives massive salaries and bonuses and investing almost exclusively in Telecoms in the Asian market. In Africa it's only current investments are in a Supermarket chain in Ghana, and a small portfolio in South Africa. All well and good but as a major component of this countries overseas aid completely useless.Last edited by Nefarious; 26-12-2010 at 20:09.

In the UK our public sector is around 42%, thus meaning 42% of tax payers are secondary tax consumers, meaning they are paid by the government and thus don't create any wealth themselves. Do you think the royal mail should be privatised a long with other public services to try and create more primary tax contributors and create more wealth?
To answer your question though, yes, not for the purpose of creating more tax contributors, but for the reason that it will make people far better off once govenrment steps out of the way.(Original post by MagicNMedicine)
OK what other services, other than Royal Mail.
What would be the next 10 on your list, if you wanted to do a privatisation programme?
2. Network Rail (along with a process of making the railways vertically integrated).
3. East Coast Main Line
4. London Underground
5. Trunk road network
6. Scottish Water
7. Glas Cymru
8. NI Water
9. Channel 4
11. The Tote
I'd love to do far more, but there's 11 to kick you off.
