Hello All,

I'm just about to go into the 3rd year of my Criminal Justice BA Hons degree at University of Kent Medway. There are many Positives about Medway campus for a start the staff that are on site are some of the best that University of Kent has to offer!

Kent Business School is very successful and a great place to undertake a business degree

The Campus over all is smaller than Canterbury, Liberty Quays is the 1st year living accommodation this is roughly 10 - 15 mins walk from the campus so it is not to bad if carrying books or laptops etc. The buildings are very modern currently there is a student bar/pub on site with live entertainment on different nights there is the opportunity to work behind the bar etc.

Who is on the Universities at Medway Site? -- University of Kent Medway, Canterbury Christ Church and Greenwich all share the same campus so there are a number of students on the site at once this is great as there is the chance to meet new people etc.

The Drill Hall Library :Available to students this is operated by Greenwich and is zoned off into 3 zones Group Work, Quite Zone and Silent Zone. These run the whole length of the library. There are netbooks and laptops for use by students along with wi-fi for those wanting to use their own laptop, smart phone or ipad. Staff can help with any problems printing, scanning and photocopying can also be undertaken from all computers, laptops and netbooks.

Freshers Week will have all the different organisations, clubs and employment openings in the local area along with local health care surgeries etc. As a student you will be assigned a personal tutor who will be on hand from your subject school they are on hand to deal with any issues you may have while at university.

Dyslexia Support Service - This is vital to anyone who thinks they might suffer or does with dyslexia appointments can be arranged for assessments to be undertaken - http://www.kent.ac.uk/ddss/ more information though the link - If you think you will need an assessment email ASAP to get this arranged

UMSA Universities at Medway Students Association
- also run different activities all over campus it is up to the student how involved they become with things when on campus etc. http://www.umsa.org.uk/

Fitness: Locally for those who want to keep fit there is Medway Park which has Echos Gym memberships for students are available and is a great way to relax or get working up a sweat. http://www.medwaypark.org.uk/

Local Towns Gillingham and Rochester both have good night clubs which offer student nights and have good security for those worried about the locals who come in as well. http://www.casinoroomsnightclub.net/

Rail Services:
London and Greenhite for Bluewater Shopping Centre are frequent for those who want to either get home or go shopping. I would recomend applying for a 16 - 25 Rail Card as this will save 1/3rd on fares on the trains. --http://www.16-25railcard.co.uk/

Students can also undertake the role of course representative this is a great chance to build confidence and have a say on lectures and seminars to staff within the school. This is a role I have undertaken it has been brilliant to have a say in the structure of the degree all comments good or bad can be aired at the meeting.

Overall I have really enjoyed my time as a student at University of Kent Learning and meeting new people that I have developed a great relationship with and developed confidence, thinking skills, critical analysis and understanding of complex topics.

If you feel there are things I have not covered drop me a reply and I will get back to you!

Good Luck!

Bumping this thread. Has Medway campus got any better recently?
Also, are the Medway and Canterbury campuses any closer connected than they used to be?

Thirdly can students at Medway join the Canterbury Societies??
Any more info on what it is now like would be great thanks!

Still pretty depressing compared to Canterbury; both in terms of the facilities and the people. I'd do WHATEVER you can do to change to a course on the Canterbury campus

Hey! I'm currently in my first year of studies at the Medway Campus so hopefully I can offer you some insight. I'd say theres definitely mix of different cultures but the variety is not as huge as what Canterbury offers since their campus is much bigger.
I have made a lot of friends who are international students though.

What you will tend to see happen is that during the first few weeks, we got a lot of mingling going on however in the second term, people tend to separate into groups and you will definitely see a segregation of cultures.

The interaction between both campuses is still quite minimal. Canterbury will tend to have more opportunities for you in terms of events and societies too. With that said, you are still welcome to join any of these down at Canterbury and theres a shuttle bus that comes every hour that can take you there for free.

The Medway campus is currently also building a new Student Hub expected to be finished this September in time for the arrival of new students. There is definitely much more money being invested in to this campus now than before.

Anymore questions, feel free to ask me.

The whole of the medway campus is racially segregated.... You have black parties and white parties and Asian parties It's terrible. Do whatever you physically can do to change to a course on the canterbury campus,
