Religious people, brainwashed by their parents?

Most religious individuals whose parents were religious will tell you that there comes a point, usually as a young adult, where you either make your faith your own, or you let it wither and die. It's not usually until you look back that you can identify this transition period.

The point is your parents don't form you irrevokably during your early years; more than anything, you make and define yourself during adolescence and early adulthood. Parents can only point you in the direction they honestly believe is best for you, but it the individual's decision how to respond.
