Isnt Uzbekistan a US ally that provided bases for US forces to launch the Afghan campaign from? See here, here, and here.

Although there are conflicting reports on whether Uzbekistan is ceasing cooperation with the US.
Uzbekistan has come to an agreement with the US to have the US withdraw all of its troops from its base in Uzbekistan in the very near future. Uzbekistan thinks Serbia hasn't been paying attention to the news for the last two years.

    UN Charter Article 1
The Purposes of the United Nations are:

    To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace;
"prevention and removal of threats to the peace"; "which might lead to a breach of the peace".
Note this means taking care of situations before nations attack

Thats your part of the charter that legitimises "attacks against countries that threaten, but don't actually attack, other countries"

How exactly is Iran threatening the peace without attacking anyone? And does attacking Iran is not a breach of the peace? Is this supposed to be some kind of Orwellian logic?

Calling for nations to be wiped of the map is threatening the peace.

The UN charter does allow for the removal of threats by force as a last option.

Yes attacking Iran does breach the peace but no where near as much Iran would do if they ever got nukes.

The Ukraine hates the idea of invading Iran, it will lead to a lot of suffering and loss of life, but we would much rather that then have a nuclear Iran on the world stage.

By enriching uranium than can be used in nuclear arms. This can easily lead to a breach in peace, especially as Iran has declared its intentions to get Israel 'of the map'.

The UN Charter does not allow for preemptive wars. You are speculating about what Iran would do if it got nuclear weapons, the plan to acquire which Iran denies. Do you have any solid evidence that Iran A) intends to build nuclear weapons, B) intends to start a war, and C) intends to use nuclear weapons? To suggest that the UN Charter should be violated based on nothing more than speculation is highly disturbing.

The UN Charter does not allow for aggression on the off-chance that a country might pose a threat to international peace in the future.

Ok, maybe your right, perhaps Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is just a nice guy, and although he believes that it is his role to bring the world to the brink of Armageddon so that it is ready for the return of the 12th Iman; although he and the mullahs call for Israel to be wiped of the map, give money and weapons to terrorist so that they can attack Israel and say that anyone who acknowledges Israel's existence will burn in hell there all really nice guys who want everyone to peacefully co-exist.

I'm sure he's such a nice bloke and that he just wants nuclear power for peaceful means, perhaps hes concerned about the damage using fossil fuels does to the environment. If he did get it I'm sure he would never work out how to make nukes and pass them on to terrorists, like he has done with all his other weapons.

Although he repeatedly calls of Israel's destruction I'm sure he doesn't mean it, its just a friendly joke isn't it.

Oh and while we're at it wasn't hitler a really nice man. I'm sure he didn't mean to start world war 2, he was just trying to get a bit more room for the poor cramped people in Germany.

Until you have concrete evidence of Iranian aggression, you have no legal case for attacking Iran.

    Well said.

Not suprising, as a nation is playing the Hitler card again.

Can anyone actually provide physical evidence of these allegations? I wonder who originally supplied weapons to Iran....might it be the US\Pakistan?

People seem to have selective memories of history, and forget Iran-Contra or the fact that Iran's neighbour has nukes.

Edit: Iran had centrifuges received from a Pakistani scientist

Cause we're so bothered. The United States will not put its security and the security of its allies on the line because a bunch of pissants at the UN who have never managed to prevent genocide or maintain the peace don't think it's right for there to be intervention. The United States has not and will not take any options off the table, legal case or not. And yes, US troops are being withdrawn from Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan got a bit annoyed when the US commented about a particularly brutal slaughter carried out by the Karimov regime last year.

Physical evidence no. The point we were making, or trying to make, was that we should not rule out a military operation in Iran.

A problem with waiting for physical evidence however is that by the time there is any it may be too late, if we wait for physical evidence that Iran will nuke someone we have to wait for them to actually do it.

    An old proverb

How concrete is concrete enough is, unfortunately, is subjective.
If by concrete you mean that Iran actually has to attack somewhere then we believe Denmark is right:

    Apollo
Denmark believes in these cases there may be a difference between what is legal and what is right. Denmark also believes Iran is making a serious mistake by deciding to continue nuclear research.
However the UN charter says that there is legal case for "adjusting" situations that may (not have been proven concretely) lead to a breach of the peace.

Although the Danish rep agrees with your post, saying things like "cause we're so bothered" aren't exactly going to score any points with the rest of the world. And lets face it- America could use some more international support.

Exactly, and the Hitler bit took up 1 tiny paragraph out of 4, with 1 being fairly large. What are you trying to suggest? That I only stick up for people who "diss" Hitler? No.. we're on the subject of Iran, now.

It sounded like a cheap Holocaust card to me. Why not remove it from the quote?

Serbia would like the Israeli representative to confirm whether or not the IDF will attack Iran, and if so will tactical nuclear weapons be used?
