Any excuse for a lock in.
And that's why I won't be voting for him.

Every time I see him I see his cheesy grin smiling into the cameras with a pint in his hand?

Who wants another alcoholic running the country? Surely Brown was enough?

Sheesh, are you UKIP supporters always on edge like that?
He said you meant the word "xenophobic" instead of "racist".
I'm no UKIP supporter. I just don't like powerful names being banded around against people who don't share your views.

As for some of UKIPs policies, if they get into power, they'll get a vote on those issues. Some will get through, some wont.

Yes, what do you think it was about?
    Read the previous posts.

None of those people were there because Nigel wants to make it legal to smoke in a pub. Although I very much disagree with that policy.

I realise that smoking laws are devolved. My point is that this is less about Scots being nationalistic and more about them rejecting his policies. It seems to be very closely linked to the anti-Tory movement. Perhaps calling him racist wasn't a very good way to go about it but the general feeling in Scotland is that UKIP's policies are abhorrent.

We won't know that for a bit. And abhorrent is a strong word. He's not advocating eating babies. It'll be interesting to see if they can gain ground in Scotland.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't even get past this line of your post.
"German" is a nationality, not a race.

Oh, and after watching the video you linked, I've gotta say I am actually a lot more impressed with the protesters than I thought I would be.
    Also, "I'm protestant - a persecuted minority".
    Wat.
If you really want to get into it, German is a race compromised of Germanic people, this means those of Bavarian, Austrian, Saxon origins etc
Austrian is a nationality, Bavarian is a nationality, they are all the same race, the only difference is one side united and the other believed two German states was for the better.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage has been escorted away from demonstrators in a police riot van during a campaign trip in Edinburgh. He was heckled whilst promoting his party in Edinburgh.

Firstly, he took refuge in a pub. But it was then surrounded by protesters so he decided to make his way by going in a taxi. The taxi's path was then blocked by protesters, so he was driven away in a police van while protesters shouted 'scum' at him continuously.

Protesters were calling him 'racist' and telling him he 'should get back to his own country'.
    .
    .
I'm not a fan of Farage, but I have to say that this kind of protest never achieves anything except to make you, and others on your side of the argument, look stupid. It just discredits you.
I don't support the policies of Nigel Farage but really those sort of actions are pathetic. It's really not the way to engage people if you disagree with them that is unless you're a brain-dead Neanderthal which most of them probably were. The police should have broken out the tear gas and water cannons. Especially the water cannons since those people probably haven't washed for days, weeks even.

No, the initial 'germanic' race (if you can even call it that using the late antique concept) was a literary and rhetorical construct created by the Romans (they liked to homogenize their barbarian groups - the creation of an 'other' is a crucial underlying process in any imperial ideology).

The later notion of a 'germanic' race is intrinsically tied to the rise of nineteenth-century German nationalism. Good luck telling Saxons and Franks that they were kin in the eighth century when Charlemagne was pillaging the hell out of Saxony!

Fear tactics used by the 'tolerant' leftists again. These people probably are the types who berate the EDL but then go and act like some of their protesters do. Hypocrites.

    Abolish UKIP

Why would you abolish a party that represents 25% of the population?

I might remind you we're not all SWP hecklers who just stick fingers in ears and shout blah blah blah to everything.
For the record the EDL are far worse than this.

And thus the 'right' appear to tarnish the 'left' with the same brush. As it goes, I disagree entirely with Farage but the protestors here have lost the argument by resorting to nonsensical heckling. If you want to beat Farage's policies, engage him in debate, not intimidation. That is the purpose of living in a democracy.

The bottom rung of society brandishing their Socialist Worker rags. What else is new.

For a side that claims to preach tolerance this is just another epitome of the left's hypocrisy.

They're both pretty bad to be honest I'm not going to lie, some horrible people in both groups. Its all relative how bad they are but from what i've experienced the EDL supporters are worse in my opinion. Abusing people because of their skin colour and heritage is disgusting no matter the affialition.

The SWP have used violence and intimidation as routine and have often incited property damage and abuse based against pretty much anyone that agrees with them.
