tbh there are a lot of rappers who are lyrically better than eminem, immortal technique is one of them.

I’m from where the gold and diamonds are ripped from the earth
Right next to the slave castles where the water is cursed
From where police brutality's not half as nice
It makes the hood in America look like paradise
Compared to the AIDS infested Caribbean slum
African streets where the passports an American gun
From where they massacre people and try to keep it quiet
And spend the next 25 years tryna deny it

I’m from where they cut your hands off if you make a fist
And ****** grow coca cause the job market doesn’t exist
Except slave labour modern day company store
And peacekeepers don’t ever ever ever come here no more

    Big L - 98 Freestyle
Basically anything by big L is absolute genius. Dropped this sort of **** at 19

The Big L is known for rockin’ jewels
Droppin’ fools and stoppin’ crews by poppin’ tools
I’m crazy quick to buck a gun
    And get a sucka done
    Yo I’m so smooth I could **** a nun

MCs be actin’ like they top gunnin’
Yo talkin’ like villains but won’t pop nothin’ so stop frontin’
Before I pop you like a fat rope
    I’m that dope
I’m mad far from flat broke
Front and I’ll let my gat smoke
    Big L is a ***** you can’t call whack
Front and get your jaw cracked
My format is raw black, I’m all that
    Fatter than horseflies
    Known to exhort guys
This ain’t Cali, this Harlem *****, we do walk bys

And it’s a fact I pack a joint or two
And right now you hearin’ **** from the Big L’s point of view
I’m not the type to take sluts out
I just **** they guts out
Get my nuts out and break the **** out
Me bein’ a virgin, that’s idiotic
‘Cause if Big L got the AIDS every cutie in the city got it
I’m a street genius with a unique penis
Got fly chicks on my **** that don’t even speak English

Seriously, there are tonnes of great rappers like Nas, Em, Rakim etc but nobody did punchlines like L. The guy has so many quotables it's ridiculous.

Yeah but is bragging really all that great when you've got people like Nas and Kendrick rapping about actual issues? Like, it's fun to listen to, but it's not impressive is it; it's just wordplay. How about some wordplay with some meaning behind it too.

In terms of lyrics, J Cole is probably the best rapper right now, hes carryin the torch from nas.

He has too many lyrics, heres one verse:

To all the women with the flaws, know it's hard my darling
You wonder why you're lonely and your man's not calling
You keep falling victim cause you're insecure
And when I tell you that you're beautiful you can't be sure
Cause you see that no one wants you back and it got you asking
So all you see is what you lacking, not what you packing
Take it from a man that loves what you got
And baby you're a star, don't let 'em tell you you're not

    Word play huh?

    How about

    I always wanted that
But my persona was always more of that Arthur Ashe
But no love for the son of a commuter,
Who was a radio head and okay at them computers
    At the post office

Appreciate the Radiohead reference, but can't make much sense of the bars without context.

I put the Arther Ashe line in to try help with the context as the radiohead part wouldn't be much sense alone, I guess its still a bit ambiguous even with that part included though.

He is basically talking about how he didn't fit in with typical African-American sterotypes. The whole first verse is about him not fitting in at school and how the other kids would make fun of him. 'I always wanted that' means he always wanted the 'gangsta' type persona however he was always identified more to an Arthur Ashe than a Christopher Wallace (who also is mentioned just before the quoted lines). His father worked in the city, a lot of the other kids either wouldn't have had a father or if they did they likely didn't have a job. Gambino was likely more well off than his counterparts at school and then the radiohead reference just backs up the Arthur Ashe part as obviously not many black kids around his parts would have been radiohead fans, nor would many have had the skill at computing to get a job at the post office.

pretty awesome lyrics if you ask me and its good to see something with meaning on the rap scene instead of the constant rubbish we are used to hearing today such as who has a bigger house, more money, hotter *****es etc.

Yeah, it's decent wordplay. Didn't expect it to be him when you posted the video to be honest. To be fair though, self-deprecation and bragging are pretty much both sides of the introspective rap coin, and I think there's more to life than the self.
