Ahahah some people on TSR think they're so much better than people who enjoy clubbing.

I usually predrink with friends beforehand so we're a little buzzed already, then have a few vodka lemonades and dance the night away.
I'd love to enjoy it, but unfortunately I don't. I really want to though , bet it's great to be excited on nights out.

I like the predrinking, I get to socialise with others over alcohol (I'm not too fond of the taste of it, but it makes me relaxed and it brings up some interesting conversations).

When I'm in the club though, I find it difficult to enjoy myself. The music is too loud, I get anxious and there's so many people. You can't really talk to people much as no one can hear. And I feel bad hitting on girls if I'm not that drunk (and don't really feel like hitting on drunk girls anyway if I'm not that drunk. I end up drinking more and more to try and be in a state to enjoy it, but wonder if it's really worth the trouble anyway. Sometimes that causes me to enjoy it, sometimes I just feel numb and dizzy.

Often get lost too, that's no fun lol.

I generally enjoy clubbing, but not sober!

Before me and my friends hit the club, we usually predrink for a few hours beforehand in a pub/bar (typically Wetherspoons). I like the music in clubs but I think that you enjoy the night more when you're a bit tipsy, possibly because it makes me more tolerant of other drunk people in smaller/busier clubs spilling drinks on you/bashing into you.

Am I the only person who took "enjoy yourself" to mean "how do you fit masturbation into such an evening", or have I lost it?

    I enjoy myself by:
    - Not going very often; Making it an occasional novelty
    - Only going to places that play music I like (rock/metal clubs)
    - Taking friends who will dance with me
    - Not going with people who are going to get absolutely trollied and become a liability
    YES.

    You win the thread.

    Woo! :five:

Makes all the difference. I just don't get tired or bored if it's rock/metal.

Playing the internet hardman act isn't going to convince anyone.
I'm not trying to convince anyone, but I'm flattered you perceive me as a hardman.

The bottom line is, the reason people like clubbing is because it generally results in sex. The reason you don't like clubbing is because for you, it doesn't result in sex.
This is what I find disturbing. Not the sex - but rather that the standard way of getting sex today, is to get utterly pissed, pay to be confined in a crowded dark room whose walls drip of sweat, and engage in some sort of cheap mating ritual. I mean come on, it's ****ing vile.

I am sure that if you could swap and live the life of a normal person you would.
    No, I really wouldn't.

Get drunk. Not wasted so that you can barely stand, but drunk enough that you won't care about the ****ty music and the people bumping into you every five seconds. Then you might actually enjoy it.

I think that most people that want to have sex and know what they're doing do, yes.

I will admit though, that a significant proportion of people in clubs are just clueless noobs and end up going home alone frustrated (to troll TSR with angry misogynist bull****.)
The average joe is not getting laid in clubs. People just go with their friends, not to go around prowling for women.

    .

    Meh, whatever.

I do not judge you for not having sex, do not judge us who do like it.

I'm simply answering OP's question: how do you enjoy yourself at a nightclub.

The answer is, meet a girl there you like and initiate sexual congress. Mainstream clubbing is a means to an end and nothing more. If you can get in and out in under 2 hours, then so much the better.

Obviously metal clubs are fun in themselves but I don't think that is what OP is asking about.

I don't know this Joe bloke you're talking about, I do know that when I used to go out clubbing, probably 3/4s of us would end up pulling on any given night. We weren't exactly a bunch of pretty boys either.

I'm not judging you for having sex, have as much sex as you want; everyone likes it, there's nothing wrong there. It's the context that leads up to the sex that bothers me.

Oh, that wasn't directed at people like you. I meant people who think people who go to nightclubs are dumb, or uninteresting, or say to find something better to do. It's just rude of them!

Awh, it's a shame you don't enjoy it though. Why not go with just one friend so it's the two of you sticking together for the night?

What is your normal routine when you hit up a club?
I enter the club and pay the entrance fee
I remove my coat and deposit it in the cloakroom
I head to a bar and purchase a double vodka and mixer
I head to a stool and drink
I head back to the bar and purchase another double vodka and mixer
I head to a stool and drink
I now probably am feeling slightly less inhibited, so I start to dance.
At some point I probably consume another 2 double vodka and mixers, and spend the rest of the evening moshing, requesting songs from the DJ, taking drunken selfies, and chatting in a somewhat slurred manner to my husband and other inebriated friendly people around me.
Shortly before the end of the night I retrieve my coat, leave the nightclub, and call a taxi, whereby I get in the taxi with my husband and kindly request the driver to take us back to our hotel.
Once inside the hotel I flob in a heap on the bed, until I muster up the energy to remove my clothes, stagger into the bathroom, get ready, and crawl into bed (not forgetting to drink a glass or two of water before I go to sleep... it helps with the hangover!)

If I'm drink more than 5 double vodka and mixers, I'm prone to being sick, so I try not to be stupid and go over 4. I've learned that the hard way.

    Voila. Night done.

Oh I know it wasn't lol.

Just pointing out that I'd like to enjoy them. I agree, many people are too negative, you've got to look for the positive and ways to make things fun. There's lots of reasons why going to nightclubs can be fun experiences. As I said, I'd very much like to enjoy them, I don't look down on people who go to nightclubs, in fact I'm sure the majority (though you wouldn't see that on TSR lol) have a lot of fun. I tend to make the effort to go, especially if I wouldn't be doing anything better anyway, it's a character building experience going out and meeting new people and in different environments. And practice makes perfect anyway, even if I didn't enjoy it the last time, better to give it another shot and try again until you succeed.

Going out with one person seems kind of weird. Going out with just one another guy seems just strange. And generally don't enjoy just going out with only guys, it's nice to have a mix. And I like having more people, more opportunities to talk, and interact, especially predrinking.

Think the main problems is I get too anxious, I do have anxiety problems, though I'm making a positive effort to get through them. Which is what I mean, just putting yourself in the situation doesn't hurt. And it takes a surprisingly large amount of alcohol to get me drunk. I have no idea why, I hardly drink and started at university. And it usually takes a long time to hit. Sometimes by the time it's properly hit, and I'm ready to party, it's time to go home . And while I do tend to do it, as I desperately want to get drunk there, taking lots of shots to try and remedy the situation (even having predrinked before) is pretty dangerous and not particularly healthy.

Exam period now, but gonna make a big effort next year. One of my aims for next year to accomplish. I'm not into so much picking girls up in nightclubs, I'm fine doing that outside of nightclubs, but dancing with my friends and others, being stupid (in a fun way) and hanging out with lower inhibitions in a friendly cheery way sounds like a lot of fun.

This is true. Sober, they are awful places.
I beg to differ but I digress since drinkers can't comprehend this so.

    Hi,

I've only been a few times and they weren't the best. But my friends love going and I want to enjoy it but I feel like I'm doing something wrong... What is your normal routine when you hit up a club?

haha, it's not the best of times when everybody you know only goes to the "cheesy pop" clubs . there's a "rock club" in my town but not only does nobody I know go there but it's expensive so that's a bit of a shame... once I went into a "retro club" (my opinion of it at the time) but apparently it was a gay/lesbian bar and I had no idea until my friends "let me know" haha, oh boy, but at least it was "fabulous" until I realised

Only reason to go to a typical nightclub is to try and pull, simple as that. It's not actually enjoyable for what it is imo, unless you're there for the DJ/music specifically.

Keep throwing drinks down your neck until you're buzzing or just chill in the smoking area and have a laugh

    Hi,

Pre-drink extensively either at the house or in some dive bar for a few hours
Arrive pissed and go straight to the bar
Order some double or a bottle of lager and stand around with my mates eyeballing the girls and trying to look cool
Speculate over which girl is interested and just banter generally
    More booze
Head to the smoking area for a cigarette, drop some chat on any girl around, if dont get anywhere stand around talking about football
Head back in for more drink
Dancefloor, make moves on girl after girl in the hope of getting something back
If successful, pull and try to bring her home, if not back to the bar for another lorryload
Blackout or bang, taxi either way
Regret money spent in morning if no girl
