No it's there to allow students to get a strong portfolio together so they can apply to formal media establishments. It's obviously a tabloid (doubt anyone didn't make that jump) but that doesn't mean it's there to spread lies for the sake of selling, it's a platform for student journalism.

Right, so now that inept shambles of an article has been ripped to pieces on here, you now backtrack and claim it was satire.

It wasn't remotely satirical or shocking. It was just patronising rubbish.
That was probably the most boring article I've read in a while. I didn't really see anything funny and she took forever to say absolutely nothing. If that's the standard of journalism these days, then we're ****ed.

Well yeah...that's probably the reason why some people write for The Tab and other student magazines. Experience and clippings for a portfolio.

As for lies... What about the article was deceptive? Although I find the point about no women being on there to be a bit far fetched... There's plenty of women on here!!

Its a pretty popular news outlet though, so it must be good for more than bolstering the old CV.

Again... I said The Tab's aim is generally satire. I didn't say that that article in particular was satire.

You know what's the most disturbing part? This could have been a piece from Daily Mail or the Guardian and nobody would have noticed. Just google Guardian/feminism. This is the standard of today's ''journalism''.

Unfairness is only part of it.
Lazy, poorly written, improperly researched, deliberately misleading, entirely unfunny... They could describe any of the articles I looked through linked from the main page.

I'm struggling to see the point of it. If it were satire then it would be more obviously funny. If it were shock it would be more extreme and parodying. As it is, it just seems to be stuck in a no-man's land (pun intended) in between, and a horribly messy one at that.

It's just bad. God help any of those people if they ever attempt a for-real career in journalism that goes beyond BuzzFeed (and even they would reject them on quality grounds).

The Tab can do satire, really, really well, it's just inevitable it sometimes has to publish **** because the journos are whoever hands in copy.
