Ok, but you have no right to silence my opinion on what is a bad film. It's my opinion and If you want to enjoy the film then fine, but it's my right to be able to critique a film and say I THINK it is a bad book/film. I'm not going to hold back what I have to say about the film just because I don't want to offend others. The book is overhyped, sexist, abusive trash... but that's my opinion.

I would wipe them from my mind and move on, but the hype surrounding the film ensures I don't forget and move on. The marketing which is constantly in my face (trying to make out the film is sexy, erotic and BDSM/S&M) pisses me off. Plus you need to understand that if a film is claiming it (or it's marketing) represents it is portraying the lifestyle/attitudes of a certain group of people then criticism should be expected (especially if it's a lifestyle such as BDSM/S&M which has only recently been embraced by the mainstream). I wonder why there is such outrage amongst the BDSM community at 50 Shades and not Secretary when it was released? Hmmmm....

Also, of course if someone/something is constantly in the limelight and hyped up to the max there's eventually going to be backlash and more criticism if that someone/something warrants the hype (Taylor Swift being a good example).
You're not giving it as your opinion, you're saying "the film IS" or "the character IS" or "the book IS", not "I THINK". And on a thread where someone is looking for people to post who are looking forward to it, it's unnecessary to come and shoot them down like people on here are doing.

Game of Thrones is always in the limelight as well but I'm not personally interested in that, and am managing to ignore it just fine!

You obviously haven't read the books.. but it's not really about BDSM/S&M as such. It's about Christian Grey's mental issues that cause him to behave in that way. It's never advertised as a normal or mainstream behaviour, he has reasons for behaving in the way he does, and eventually these are explored (haven't seen the film so don't know if it's covered in the first one).

It's not a book about a whole group of people and their sexual choice. It's a book about a man who has mental challenges that have affected his sexual tastes, a woman who is whiter than white, and their journey through falling in love and trying to find a happy medium that suits them both.

The majority of people who are protesting will never, ever have read it. Or at least not enough to have read the explanation as well.

It's not even good erotica. A bad example of a generally bad genre.

Great reviews so far ... if you're comparing it with Gigli.

The women I imagine doing this stuff are slightly portly gothic type women maybe with dyed purple hair much like the author. (In fact see two post early than yours.)

Probably because the men they get are not that conventionally attractive and hence they need a way of spicing things up in the bedroom.

I imagine two very attractive people like Branjelina don't need to do this sort of stuff since they just turn each other on just by looking! If you were sleeping with Anjelina Jolie or Kate Upton why would you want to do all bondage and stuff? You wouldn't need to because they are soooo hot anyway.

I'm so insanely excited it's unreal!! That said, I can't see until I'm back from Abu Dhabi

Apparently the chemistry between Dornan and Johnson, doesn't exist but the trailers makes it seems it does so I'm hoping that just BS but that said, the sex isn't as good as it could be and you can tell that from the trailer but I'll reserve judgement until I have seen it

I think we have to remember that this started as twilight fan fiction: therefore a series that is already awfully written will probably result in an even worse written book. It's writing is appalling and if this is the best book you've read then I'm afraid you haven't read enough.
The movie: so we can look at The Schmoes Know review on YouTube, the JeremyJahns and the Chris Stuckmann review (trusted movie reviewers) who slated it!!! No chemistry, bad scripting, bad acting from everyone barn the main woman, and the fact that rubbish in the text just transfers to film. It's just a silly little film that I don't think you could like if you were a hardcore film lover anyway :') As said above: Secretary did far better critically on going into this.

Why should anyone get excited? Do you think I get excited when Naughty America release their latest blu-Ray?

I have read all three Fifty shades of grey book and i must say they are the best books i have ever read. Most people say 'Ugh why you reading porn' but its not. It's a romance story.

I honestly cant wait for the film, the actors playing the characters are a perfect fit. Though the film wont be as good as the book (it never is). I cant wait to see how they're going to portray it.
I couldn't think of anything more horrible, especially in a cinema; knowing you will be surrounded by boners and wet seats.

I saw fifty shades yesterday and it was so good! It's not a porno in the slightest, was actually a really moving film.
