Alright Ill ask a legit question which I enjoy asking feminist as there is usually a very varied answer.

As a previous poster pointed out there is some vitrol about the modern feminist movement, with that in mind why do true fighters for equality not identify themselves as Egalitarian's instead of Feminists? As being a part of the Egalitarian movment allows you to campaign for equal rights for all rather than more rights for one specific group.
Women are genuinely worse off than men in society. However, both are affected negatively. Also, calling yourself an egalitarian removes any focus on issues - what are you fighting for if you're an egalitarian? It's definitely true that not all egalitarians support the same causes.

I'm not a feminist, but how many right wing extremist nutjobs do you think you will get using this thread as a platform to rant and not debate?
Well, the top comment is that so far, lmao.

since a feminist is just someone who believes man and women should have equal rights aren't most of us?
It's more just a certain version of that, with a specific ideology (the patriarchy).

feminism is a cancer in all its glory. if you fight for equal rights you are an Egalitarian.
feminism causes women to hate men, and they allow for unhealthy habits especially with the while 'fat acceptance/fat is beautiful' bull****
    Sure thing, honey.

"Nice guys finish last". Discuss your view on this statement from your feminist viewpoint.
Well, it assumes that women are required to like guys for doing good things, which is not true. People are attracted to people for any number of reasons. It's basically the ideology of The Red Pill, which is disgusting and misogynistic.

What subjects do you study, what grades have you achieved, what Uni are/have you studied at, what career are you aiming for/have?

Also, what do you think when an oil spokesperson says "women oppose fracking because women don't get science"?

I currently am studying English Language, English Literature and Philosophy & Ethics at A Level. I'm getting As and Bs. I'm planning on probably studying abroad. I've no idea for a career at the moment.

Do you believe that heterosexuality controls and oppresses women, and that women should choose to be lesbians for political reasons rather than erotic reasons? I remember hearing something about woman-identified women or something.

Good to hear. Of course, most feminists do, but you get the odd few that don't

Why do you think patriarchal societies are bad?

If male privilege exists, why are the bulk of (workplace) suicides and homeless people men?

Isn't it incredibly dishonest for forced vaginal enveloping of a penis to not be viewed as rape as this massively skews the statistics?

Why do feminists say there are rape cultures in Universities when so many of the high-profile cases have been proven false and the statistics are often lower than the surrounding areas?

Did you support campaign/movements like #killallwhitemen and #antigamergate?

Beyond simply believing in the ideals of the movement, what sort of actions have you taken in your feminist activism?

Do you believe that gender is entirely a social construct and sexual dimorphism is due to socialisation?

No, that's asinine. Sexual orientation is something that shouldn't be controlled like that. I may be a lesbian, but I don't think all women should be, lmao.

if you do support equalitarian's why do you focus on the female part of it. everyone deserves equality regards of gender, religion, skin colour, orientation etc. but feminism doesn't seem to understand that all the time and just seems to want women to be superior. well thats how i see it anyway

That's good, most feminists I know argue against the few women that do believe in that more often than not, so I can't imagine it's a very popular point of view.

So, do you consider the gender identity of transgendered men and women to be legitimate? I've heard that there's a school of feminism that views transgendered women as spies for the patriarchy rather than real women.

I'm sorry about asking all these tough questions, but you did say that you were a radical feminist, and if you go far enough into the extremes of the feminist movement, you can find a lot of things that most feminists wouldn't agree with.

Why do you think patriarchal societies are bad?
Because they only benefit one half of the population.

    (Original post by keromedic)
If male privilege exists, why are the bulk of (workplace) suicides and homeless people men?
Because of toxic masculinity. The patriarchy affects men as well.

I see any forced sexual activity as rape or sexual assault, so... You're putting words in my mouth.

I supported one of those. Guess which one.

    Not much, really. Why?

Not entirely, but partly. For both.
